One Piece Confirms God Valley Incident Movie for Summer 2027
Image by James RichardsonOne Piece is returning to theaters in 2027 with ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY, a new movie centered around one of the most important events in the history of Eiichiro Oda’s long-running story.
The announcement came during ONE PIECE DAY ’26 at Makuhari Messe on August 23, giving the franchise its first new theatrical movie since ONE PIECE FILM RED arrived in 2022.

ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY is currently scheduled for summer 2027 and will form part of the celebrations surrounding the manga’s 30th anniversary on July 22 of that year.

The God Valley Incident has remained one of One Piece’s biggest historical mysteries for years, with Oda substantially expanding the story behind the event during recent chapters of the manga.
Set decades before Luffy begins his journey, the incident brings the Rocks Pirates, Monkey D. Garp and Gol D. Roger together in a conflict whose consequences helped shape the balance of power that exists throughout the modern One Piece world.

Volume 114, released earlier in 2026, places a major emphasis on what actually happened at God Valley, meaning the movie arrives shortly after manga readers received a much more complete account of the legendary battle.

Bandai Spirits has already begun releasing figures based on characters connected with the incident, while the upcoming film will now give fans the chance to see the events of God Valley brought to life through animation on the big screen.
ONE PIECE DAY ’26 also delivered an unexpected second movie announcement, with ONE PIECE FILM BAAD confirmed for 2029 as part of the television anime’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

Almost nothing has been disclosed about BAAD beyond its title and planned release year, with its setting, cast and place within the wider One Piece timeline still being kept under wraps.
Eiichiro Oda created the title image revealed for the project himself, providing the first piece of artwork for a film that remains several years away from release.
Both upcoming movies follow the enormous success of ONE PIECE FILM RED, which ultimately earned approximately ¥20.33 billion at the Japanese box office and drew more than 14.7 million moviegoers across its original theatrical run and later encore screenings.

The movie news was only one part of a packed ONE PIECE DAY ’26, with the event also revealing the final results of the second worldwide WORLD TOP 100 character popularity poll.

Monkey D. Luffy claimed first place with more than 2.3 million votes, followed by Roronoa Zoro and Sanji, while Nami and Trafalgar Law rounded out the top five.

The highest-ranking characters will receive further attention during the manga’s 30th anniversary celebrations, including newly drawn outfits created by Oda for the top 30 that are planned for future merchandise and other projects.
Netflix also brought new information about the live-action One Piece series, announcing Emilio Sakraya as Koza, Omid Abtahi as Toto, Jamie Ward as Pell and Nabil Khan as Chaka for the upcoming third season.

Season 3 will take the Straw Hat crew into the Alabasta storyline when it arrives in 2027, continuing their journey alongside Vivi as they become involved in the conspiracy threatening her homeland.

The ONE PIECE Card Game received several announcements of its own, including new cards for ONE PIECE Heroines Edition vol.2 and further details about the OP-18 booster featuring Water Seven and the Knights of God.

OP-18 will also include specially commissioned artwork from legendary Final Fantasy illustrator Yoshitaka Amano, while Nico Robin is among the characters receiving new high-rarity artwork across the upcoming releases.

WIT Studio’s THE ONE PIECE remake was another major animated project highlighted around the event, with new key artwork recently revealed ahead of its worldwide Netflix debut in February 2027.

ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters during summer 2027, while ONE PIECE FILM BAAD will follow sometime in 2029, with international theatrical dates yet to be announced for either movie.
