UNDERTALE is crossing paths with Final Fantasy for a colorful new merchandise collection from Square Enix that dresses characters from Toby Fox’s RPG in costumes inspired by the long-running fantasy series.

The newly revealed “UNDERTALE × FINAL FANTASY” collection consists of four items using the crossover artwork and will make its first appearance at Tokyo Game Show 2026.

Square Enix is bringing a substantial merchandise selection to the event, and the UNDERTALE crossover will be joined by another unusual project connecting one of the company’s best-known properties with the visual history of Final Fantasy.

The new Fullmetal Alchemist Dot Art collection transforms Edward Elric, Alphonse Elric, Winry Rockbell, Roy Mustang, Riza Hawkeye, Envy and Greed (Ling) into original pixel artwork created by veteran Final Fantasy artist Kazuko Shibuya.

Shibuya has worked on character sprites for Final Fantasy since the earliest games and was responsible for redrawing the playable characters used throughout the more recent Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster titles, making her interpretation of the Fullmetal Alchemist cast particularly fitting for Square Enix’s Tokyo Game Show lineup.

The new UNDERTALE collaboration also comes just as Square Enix begins building toward Final Fantasy’s 40th anniversary in 2027, with several major projects already announced for the milestone.

Among them is the new “SQUARE ENIX GALLERY CARDS” line, which will begin with a 180-card Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary Collection using 97 pieces of artwork from throughout the series, including elaborate foil treatments, a serial-numbered Ultima Legend Rare and NFC-equipped Harmonic Rare cards connected with Final Fantasy music.

Square Enix will also celebrate the anniversary with the “Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary Exhibition: The World of Neverending Fantasy,” which will fill the Hyokeikan at Tokyo National Museum with scenes, music and interactive experiences covering four decades of the RPG series.

UNDERTALE originally launched in 2015 and quickly became one of the most recognizable independent RPGs of its generation, combining deliberately retro visuals and turn-based battles with a story built around the player’s ability to fight, spare or befriend the monsters encountered beneath the surface.

Its RPG foundation makes Final Fantasy a natural series for the new crossover to play with, particularly when transforming UNDERTALE’s familiar cast through costumes associated with Square Enix’s decades-spanning franchise.
