Orders Open as Gundam’s Official Char Aznable Replica Helmet Returns for New Re-Release
Pre-orders have officially opened for a re-release of one the most impressive pieces of official Mobile Suit Gundam merchandise, with MegaHouse bringing back its functional 1/1 scale replica of Char Aznable’s iconic helmet.
The “Full Scale Works Mobile Suit Gundam Char Aznable Stahlhelm” recreates the helmet and mask worn by the legendary Red Comet throughout the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime, with the finished piece standing approximately 30 cm tall.
The helmet is part of MegaHouse’s “Full Scale Works” range, which recreates recognizable anime masks, helmets, and other props at life size, with previous Gundam releases also including an Earth Federation Forces pilot helmet and Char’s Normal Suit helmet.
MegaHouse originally created the replica to celebrate Mobile Suit Gundam’s 40th anniversary, with its first release arriving in April 2020 before further production runs gave fans additional opportunities to purchase it.
Another release was offered through a sold-out lottery sale in August 2025, and the newly announced production run will once again make the life-size helmet available to fans who are yet to add it to their collection.
The replica has been designed to function as both a wearable prop and a display piece, with the main helmet constructed from lightweight ABS using a dedicated mold that captures the sharp edges and exaggerated shape of Char’s headgear.
Its separate PVC headgear incorporates a magic mirror-style sheet across the eye area, maintaining the dark appearance of Char’s visor from the outside while still allowing the wearer to see through it.
MegaHouse lists the helmet as free size, meaning that it has been sized to fit most heads, although this will vary depending on the wearer.
For display, the set includes a dedicated ABS stand decorated with the Principality of Zeon emblem, allowing the complete helmet and headgear to be presented together when not being worn.
Pre-orders for the latest “Full Scale Works Mobile Suit Gundam Char Aznable Stahlhelm” release are now open through Premium Bandai Japan.
The last re-release in 2025 was priced at ¥27,500 (approx. $176 USD / £130 GBP), though this latest wave will be priced at ¥29,700 (approx. $193 USD / £143 GBP), with the price increase being unsurprising given the current state of the Japanese economy.
Bandai has not confirmed whether the replica will appear through their overseas retail channels such as Premium Bandai US, though fans based outside of Japan who are interested in picking it up should be able to find it through third party hobby goods retailers/importers.
