All the Announcements from AnimeJapan 2026, Japan’s Largest Anime Convention

The AnimeJapan 2026 convention held last weekend provided a massive wave of updates for the anime industry, ranging from fresh series announcements to highly anticipated premiere dates and trailers.
High-profile theatrical projects were a major highlight, including the announcement that SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table will hit theaters in July 2026 with a new movie titled 44: CLOUDY BEACH.

Television fans received confirmation that several popular series are returning, with Sentenced to Be a Hero Season 2, I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too Season 2, and You and I Are Polar Opposites Season 2 all currently in production.

Action enthusiasts can look forward to Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai Part 2 and the continuation of the Tokyo Revengers: War of the Three Titans Arc, which is scheduled for an October 2026 broadcast.

The summer 2026 season is shaping up to be particularly busy with July premieres set for Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2, Kaiju Girl Caramelise, Hono no Tokyujo: Dodge Danko, and Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life.

Other notable summer debuts include Uchi no Otouto Domo ga Sumimasen on July 3, 2026, and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance on July 4, 2026.

Fall 2026 will see the return of Blue Box Season 2 on October 4, 2026, while the fantasy series Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 and the debut of PSYREN are also slated for October 2026.

The event also looked further into the future with 2027 release windows confirmed for Inherit the Winds in January, the Kindergarten Wars adaptation in the spring, and the anime film The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes.

Long-running hits shared updates as well, including a new Elbaph Arc trailer for ONE PIECE featuring Loki’s casting and new creditless opening videos for Re:ZERO Season 4 and Go For It, Nakamura-kun!!.

In addition to animation news, the weekend featured gaming reveals such as the new Solo Leveling: KARMA roguelite action-RPG and a mobile game based on the Made in Abyss franchise.

The convention concluded with the major announcement that AnimeJapan will move its venue to Osaka for its 2027 and 2028 events.
