Brand-New Kaguya-sama Movie Confirmed as the Anime’s Conclusion

The announcement of a brand-new Kaguya-sama: Love is War film has been confirmed, set to serve as the overall story’s definitive conclusion.
This highly anticipated news followed the conclusion of the recent television special, Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Otona e no Kaidan (The Steps to Become an Adult).

Original manga creator Aka Akasaka has personally drafted a new, original story concept specifically for the film.
Akasaka clarified that this project is not a direct anime adaptation of the original manga, but an entirely new work crafted by the dedicated anime team, something that no one has seen before.

The creator noted that the film, a concept the team began discussing approximately four years prior, would be “new, but nostalgic” for fans of the franchise.
The series is a romantic comedy centered on the rivalry between Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane, two geniuses who are the elite of their prestigious academy’s student council.
Though they have both fallen for one another, their immense pride prevents either from confessing first, as that would make them the “loser” in the competition of love.

Their daily schemes to force the other into a confession form the comedic core of the story.
Viz Media publishes the original manga in English.
The manga began its serialization in Shueisha’s Miracle Jump magazine before moving to Young Jump.

The source material entered its final arc in late 2021 and concluded a year later.
The anime adaptation has a robust history, beginning with the first television season which aired for 12 episodes.
Subsequent seasons followed, including Season 2 and Season 3, the latter of which was celebrated with U.S. premiere advanced screenings in Los Angeles and New York.

Additionally, an original video anime project was released in May 2021.
Prior to this new finale, the story continued on the big screen with Kaguya-sama: Love is War -The First Kiss That Never Ends-, a film that adapted the popular manga arc of the same name.
American distribution has been managed by Aniplex of America, which has streamed the series across platforms like Hulu, Crunchyroll, and FunimationNow, with Funimation also providing a dub for the first two seasons.
