Minky Momo Anime OVA Sets 2026 Release Date as New Teaser Trailer and Visuals Released

Ashi Productions Marks 50th Anniversary With New Fairy Princess Minky Momo OVA .

The long running magical girl franchise is set to return with a brand new installment for the first time in 32 years following an announcement on December 24, 2025 .

The upcoming project is titled Fairy Princess Minky Momo: Akogare no Yume e Magokoro no Duo which translates to Toward a Dream of Longing A Sincere Duo .

This production introduces a new version of the protagonist who becomes the magical princess of Diginarsa after receiving a smartphone for her 12th birthday .

The story follows this new heroine as she attempts to preserve humanity’s waning dreams with her animal companions Chamocha, Databook, and Pirupi .

Momo must face internal conflict as she observes a popular new app that promotes superficial dreams based on followers and social approval .

Ayumu Watanabe and Deko Akao, known for their work on Komi Can’t Communicate, will serve as the director and series composition writer .

The creative team also includes returning character designers Hiroshi Watanabe and Mari Tominaga who previously contributed to the franchise .

Ashi Productions is animating the project to celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2026 and the film is scheduled for a theatrical release that same year .

To generate interest for the new release, the original 1982 television series is scheduled to begin rebroadcasting on April 4, 2026 .

The franchise has a history of addressing complex themes through its magical girl premise, including the famous conclusion of the first series where the original Momo met a tragic end .
