Gundam SEED Astray’s Exclusive RG Gold Frame Amatsu Gunpla Kit Gets New US Re-Release

The “RG 1/144 Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu” has returned as a limited US re-release, recreating Rondo Gina Sahaku’s black and gold machine together with the unusual equipment inherited from the destroyed Blitz Gundam.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray expands the Cosmic Era story running alongside the original Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, following characters including Junk Guild member Lowe Guele, mercenary Gai Murakumo and members of Orb’s powerful Sahaku family.

The Gold Frame began as one of five Gundam Astray units secretly developed by Morgenröte at Heliopolis, alongside the better-known Red Frame and Blue Frame, before Rondo Gina Sahaku escaped with the machine as the colony was destroyed.
After suffering severe damage, the Gold Frame was rebuilt into the Gold Frame Amatsu using technology recovered from the GAT-X207 Blitz Gundam, most visibly through the installation of Blitz’s severed right arm.

That upgrade gave the machine access to technology including Phase Shift Armor and the Mirage Colloid stealth system, while the Gold Frame’s original white exterior was replaced by the black armor that defines the Amatsu’s appearance.

Bandai’s Real Grade kit recreates the completed Gold Frame Amatsu while also allowing builders to assemble its earlier unfinished configuration through selectable parts.

The incomplete version changes areas including the side of the head, left shoulder and left thigh, providing a substantially different appearance from the completed machine rather than simply removing its later weapons.

It also replaces the upgraded equipment on the right arm with the original “Trikeros” recovered from Blitz Gundam, with Bandai producing the weapon specifically for this RG release and allowing a beam blade effect to be attached to its tip.

The completed configuration instead carries the “Trikeros Kai,” combining a beam rifle, beam saber and Lancer Darts into the large offensive shield mounted on its right arm.

Its most imposing equipment sits across the back, where the twin “Maga no Ikutachi” weapons curve outward from the Mobile Suit and incorporate their own opening and extension mechanisms.

The backpack also houses the “Magashira no Hoko,” with Bandai reproducing the weapon’s deployment and firing gimmick to give the finished kit additional display options.

Multiple interchangeable hand parts are included for the different weapons and poses, while dedicated markings and Realistic Decals provide additional detailing across the asymmetric black, gold and red armor.

The kit originally debuted as a Premium Bandai exclusive in 2017, several months after the standard retail “RG 1/144 Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Mina” introduced the later version of the machine piloted by Gina’s twin sister, Rondo Mina Sahaku.
The wider Astray family has continued receiving attention from Bandai during 2026, including a second production run for the “RG 1/144 Gundam Astray Red Dragon,” Lowe Guele’s extensively modified Red Frame equipped with three Caletvwlch weapons.

Gold Frame Amatsu Mina has also recently appeared in Gundam’s major hololive crossover, with Todoroki Hajime paired with the Mobile Suit for the customized “Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Mina x Todoroki Hajime” design revealed as part of the collaboration’s second wave.
