Bandai has revealed a new Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair merchandise collection that turns one of the game’s strangest collectible rewards into something fans can actually wear.

The new range recreates the in-game underwear associated with Hajime Hinata and Nagito Komaeda as real boxer shorts, alongside Monokuma and Monomi hairbands and a sound-equipped acrylic logo display.

Originally released in Japan in 2012, Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair follows a new group of Ultimate students after they become trapped on Jabberwock Island and are forced into another killing game overseen by Monokuma.

Hajime serves as the game’s protagonist, while Nagito quickly becomes one of its most unpredictable figures through his obsessive belief in hope and willingness to push the other students into increasingly dangerous situations.

The underwear designs referenced by Bandai come directly from the game’s Free Time Event system, where completely filling a character’s Hope Fragment relationship unlocks a special item based on that student’s underwear.

The complete collection includes:

  • “Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Boxer Shorts ” – ¥3,960 each (approximately $25/£19)

Two separate 100% polyester designs reproduce the underwear associated with Hajime and Nagito in the game, with men’s M and L sizes alongside women’s M and L options.

The acrylic game logo sits on a sound-equipped base that plays approximately 30 seconds of the familiar opening theme when its button is pressed, with a standard acrylic base also included for silent display.

  • “Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Hairband ” – ¥3,520 each (approximately $22/£17)

Two plush-style designs recreate the heads and distinctive ears of Monokuma and Monomi, measuring approximately 25 cm wide and around 10.5 to 11.5 cm tall depending on the character.

Danganronpa is set to return to Jabberwock Island in the upcoming “Danganronpa 2×2,” which revisits Goodbye Despair with both an updated version of the original story and a completely new alternate scenario.

Its “Original Mode” rebuilds the familiar 2012 scenario with updated visuals and presentation, while the new “Slayhem Mode,” known as “Kyouki Mode” in Japan, creates an alternate killing game in which victims, culprits and murder tricks can differ from the original story.

Spike Chunsoft has also introduced a completely new student for that alternate scenario, Sakutaro Higashi, who is voiced by Demon Slayer star Natsuki Hanae and currently has his Ultimate talent hidden behind the vague title of “Ultimate ???”.
