SEGA Celebrates Sonic's 35th Anniversary With New Baseball Collab

SEGA has announced a brand-new collaboration between its iconic mascot Sonic the Hedgehog and Japan’s Yomiuri Giants baseball team.

The promotional campaign is set to see the famous blue speedster enter the baseball diamond for a special crossover event.

The iconic character is officially celebrating his massive 35th anniversary throughout 2026, and another recent collaboration saw him appear in a team up between SEGA and sportswear brand FILA for a special “retro football” inspired apparel collection.

Continuing this sporting trend, the new baseball collab will take place during the Nippon Life Ce-Pa Interleague Play 2026 tournament at the Yomiuri Giants match against the Chiba Lotte Marines.

The exciting match is officially scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM on Friday, June 5, 2026, live at the Tokyo Dome stadium.

To commemorate the partnership, SEGA revealed a brand-new illustration of Sonic proudly wearing a Yomiuri Giants uniform.

This special artwork will be displayed on the massive stadium vision boards and featured on a new range of original merchandise that will be revealed shortly.

Sonic himself will also make a live appearance on the field before the game begins to hype up the crowd.

Fans wanting to get the ultimate experience can purchase special collaboration tickets that include an exclusive post-match field experience and character greeting with Sonic.

The special tickets will also include a free pencil case featuring the collaborative artwork (final design to be revealed shortly).

Two different tiers of tickets will be available as follows:

Sonic the Hedgehog Collab Seat B (Reserved Seat B Area)
- Price: 5,500 yen (approx. $36.50 USD / £28.80 GBP)
Sonic the Hedgehog Collab Seat C (Reserved Seat C Area)
- Price: 3,200 yen (approx. $21.20 USD / £16.70 GBP)

General ticket sales will officially open to the public on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
