Tanuki To Kitsune Anime Adaptation Confirmed for October 2026

The web manga Tanuki to Kitsune, known in English as Racoon-dog and Fox, is officially receiving a TV anime adaptation scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan in October 2026.

This announcement coincides with the tenth anniversary of the series, which was created by the artist Atamoto and first published on the social media platform X.

While the premiere window is confirmed, specific details regarding the voice cast and production staff for the new TV series have not yet been disclosed.

The franchise previously saw an animated release in 2018 with a web anime directed by Tomohiro Tsukimisato and produced by the animation studio Lesprit for YouTube.

Tanuki to Kitsune 1

The original comic follows the daily lives and mountainside exploits of a slightly airheaded raccoon-dog and a mischievous fox who share a close friendship.

The print version of the series is published in Japan by FrontierWorks and currently consists of 11 volumes and three picture books.

Tanuki to Kitsune has achieved significant commercial success with over 13 million copies sold in Japan to date.
