Square Enix Reveals New Official Final Fantasy X Zanarkand Abes Necklace
Image by Charlotte DavisSquare Enix has opened pre-orders for a new piece of Final Fantasy X jewelry that turns one of Tidus’ strongest links to his lost home into a premium sterling silver accessory.
The new “Final Fantasy X Silver Necklace – Zanarkand Abes” recreates the emblem of the Blitzball team Tidus played for before the destruction of Zanarkand and his arrival in the unfamiliar world of Spira.
The Zanarkand Abes are established at the very beginning of Final Fantasy X, with Tidus introduced as their star player immediately before Sin attacks the futuristic city and sets the game’s story in motion.
That makes the team’s emblem more meaningful than a simple sports logo, representing Tidus’ life before Spira and the home he spends much of the adventure trying to understand and ultimately come to terms with.
Square Enix has translated the emblem into a relatively understated pendant made from SV925 sterling silver, allowing the angular Zanarkand Abes symbol to provide the entire focus rather than surrounding it with additional character artwork or lettering.
The pendant measures approximately 17 mm wide, 19.6 mm tall and 2.4 mm thick, while the accompanying chain measures around 50 cm and includes an adjustment ring that allows it to be shortened to approximately 45 cm.
Its arrival also fits neatly into Final Fantasy X’s own 25th anniversary celebrations, which have already produced a substantial wave of merchandise inspired by characters, locations and objects from the 2001 PlayStation 2 RPG.
The upcoming “FINAL FANTASY X MUSEUM -Memories of Pyreflies-” exhibition is set to be one of the biggest parts of those celebrations, with previously revealed merchandise including a Zanarkand Abes jacket, matching metal keychain and pen alongside collectibles inspired by Blitzball, Yuna and the wider world of Spira.
Square Enix is also beginning to turn its attention toward an even larger milestone, with the entire Final Fantasy series set to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2027.
One of the centerpieces will be the “Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary Exhibition: The Endless World of Fantasy,” which will take over the Hyokeikan at Tokyo National Museum from January 8 through April 4, 2027.
Image by Charlotte DavisThe exhibition will retrace the worlds and adventures created across four decades of Final Fantasy while introducing interactive experiences and a collaboration between imagery from the games and cultural properties held by Tokyo National Museum.
Square Enix is also launching its completely new “SQUARE ENIX GALLERY CARDS” collectible series as part of the anniversary push, beginning with a 180-card Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary Collection built around 97 pieces of artwork from across the franchise.
Image by Charlotte DavisThose cards range from conventional and foil rarities to much more elaborate releases, including a serial-numbered Ultima Legend Rare with Yoshitaka Amano’s digital signature, a 3D holographic Phantom Legend Rare, and NFC-equipped Harmonic Rare cards that connect collectors with Final Fantasy music.
The Gallery Cards will be released on January 8, 2027, the same day the 40th anniversary exhibition opens in Tokyo, making the opening weeks of next year the point where Square Enix’s celebrations for the wider franchise will begin gathering considerably more momentum.
Pre-orders for the “Final Fantasy X Silver Necklace – Zanarkand Abes” are now open through the Japanese Square Enix e-STORE.
The necklace is priced at ¥30,800 (approximately $200 / £148) and is scheduled for release on February 8, 2027.
