My Melody and Kuromi are being given sweet new makeovers inspired by two of Baskin-Robbins’ best-known flavors for a new official collaboration filled with exclusive ice cream cups, desserts and collectible extras.
The new “MY MELODY ♡ KUROMI ICE CREAM MODE” campaign pairs My Melody with Popping Shower and Kuromi with Love Potion 31, using patterns inspired by the two flavors across specially created character artwork.

Baskin-Robbins, commonly known as 31 Ice Cream in Japan, says the word “MODE” has two meanings for the collaboration, referring both to the fashion looks worn by the pair and being in the mood for ice cream.

My Melody and Kuromi have become one of Sanrio’s most frequently paired characters, with the sweeter pink styling associated with My Melody contrasting against Kuromi’s black-and-purple appearance and more mischievous personality.

That contrast carries directly into the new artwork, with My Melody wearing the colorful blue, pink and green pattern associated with Popping Shower while Kuromi takes on the pink-and-purple styling of Love Potion 31.

The collaboration covers four main menu options, with several including limited collectibles created specifically for the campaign.
- “Special Double Cup With Spoon Charm” – Small ¥690 (approx. $4/£3) / Regular ¥940 (approx. $6/£4)

Customers can choose any two ice cream flavors, served in a character-themed cup with a heart-shaped pick and an exclusive spoon charm measuring approximately 3.5cm tall.

My Melody’s version uses her Popping Shower design and launches first, while Kuromi follows later in the month wearing her Love Potion 31 pattern.
- “My Melody & Kuromi Double Cup” – Small ¥510 (approx. $3/£2) / Regular ¥760 (approx. $5/£4)

Two standard collaboration cups are available, with one showing My Melody and Kuromi posing together and the other placing their faces around a large heart design.

These cups can again be filled with any two flavors, but do not include the spoon charms supplied with the special versions.

- “My Melody & Kuromi Single Sundae” – ¥580 (approx. $4/£3)

A single small scoop is topped with whipped cream and colorful sprinkles before being finished with a My Melody or Kuromi chocolate decoration.

Each sundae also comes with an original glitter sticker sleeve featuring the flavor-inspired character artwork.

- “My Melody & Kuromi Ice Cream Set” – Small ¥3,100 (approx. $20/£15) / Regular ¥3,660 (approx. $23/£17)
The takeout set contains eight customer-selected scoops presented in exclusive character cups and a specially illustrated box.

It also includes Baskin-Robbins Japan’s first original sticker book, containing five double-sided sticker sheets, a character sticker sheet, clear pocket and silicone band.

The book has been designed to hold more than just the included stickers, with the glitter stickers from the sundaes intended to be added to its pages and the spoon charms able to attach to the silicone band.

My Melody and Kuromi also recently appeared together in a new cosmetics collection with Cosme Kitchen, which used their contrasting personalities across beauty products and accessories from several Japanese brands.

The pair have also moved into fashion this fall through a new Converse collection spanning sneakers, clothing and customizable designs.
