Madoka Magica’s New Official Model Kit Recreates Madoka’s Movie Redesign
Image by James RichardsonBandai has fully revealed a new Puella Magi Madoka Magica model kit recreating Madoka Kaname’s redesigned magical girl outfit from Walpurgisnacht Rising.
The “30MP Madoka Kaname (Walpurgisnacht: Rising Ver.)” is part of Bandai’s 30 MINUTES PREFERENCE line, which adapts characters from established anime and game franchises into articulated plastic model kits using detailed color separation to reduce the amount of painting needed after assembly.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht Rising returned to Madoka and Homura’s story almost 13 years after 2013’s Rebellion, continuing directly from the dramatically altered world created at the end of the earlier movie.
The sequel opened in Japanese cinemas in August, while Aniplex of America has already confirmed a limited North American theatrical run for January 2027.
Madoka’s new kit uses seven runners molded across several shades of pink, red, white and skin tone to recreate the layered design of her Walpurgisnacht Rising costume without relying heavily on additional paint.
Bandai has given particular attention to the elaborate puffed skirt, separating its multiple layers into individually colored parts to preserve the contrast between the different sections of her outfit.
Her hairstyle has also been completely rebuilt for the new kit rather than reusing pieces from the earlier 30MP version based on Madoka’s school uniform appearance.
The finished model includes two tampo-printed interchangeable expressions alongside four blank face plates that can be customized using the accompanying water-slide decals.
A seated Kyubey is also included as a separate accessory, giving Madoka a companion display option that directly references one of the series’ most important characters.
Several interchangeable hand parts are included for changing her pose, although Madoka’s bow, Soul Gem and other magical accessories are not part of the set.
The new kit places most of its emphasis on recreating Madoka’s updated character design from Walpurgisnacht Rising, particularly the more elaborate layers of her costume and the contrast between its softer pink sections and darker red details.
Madoka has also been receiving considerable attention outside Bandai’s model-kit lineup, recently appearing in a new official smartwatch collection alongside Homura, Sayaka, Kyoko, Mami and Nagisa.
That collection also transformed the series’ Soul Gems and Homura’s Dark Orb into miniature ring watches, while an earlier U-TREASURE jewelry collection recreated the same magical items using silver, gold and platinum.
The “30MP Madoka Kaname (Walpurgisnacht: Rising Ver.)” will release on November 7, 2026, priced at ¥4,950 (approximately $31 / £23) through retailers including HobbyLink Japan.
Bandai is also releasing a matching “30MP Homura Akemi (Walpurgisnacht: Rising Ver.)” model kit on the same day, with Homura’s redesigned movie appearance receiving its own separate build and accessories.
