Official Initial D Watch Collection Adds New Bunta Fujiwara Inspired Timepiece
Watch brand Angel Clover has announced a new addition to its collaboration series with the legendary racing manga Initial D.
The “Bunta Fujiwara SUBARU IMPREZA WRX (GC8) type R STi Model” pays tribute to the father of the series protagonist and his iconic vehicle.
Initial D is a masterpiece of automotive manga by Shuichi Shigeno, which celebrated the 30th anniversary of its serialization start in 2025.
With over 56 million copies in circulation, the series has influenced car culture globally, sparking interest in vehicles like the Toyota AE86 among younger generations.
The story follows Takumi Fujiwara and his growth as a driver through intense mountain pass battles.
This new release follows three previous timepieces produced by the brand, which were based on the vehicles of other key characters.
Previous models in the collection honored Takumi Fujiwara’s Toyota Sprinter Trueno (AE86), Ryosuke Takahashi’s Mazda RX-7 (FC3S), and the Sileighty driven by the duo Mako Sato and Sayuki.
This specific model (IN40-GC8) is designed to capture the sharp performance and commanding presence of Bunta’s Subaru Impreza.
The design incorporates the number “8” at the 12 o’clock position on the dial, referencing the GC8 chassis code.
The sub-dials are styled to resemble the vehicle’s dashboard meters, adding a sporty touch to the face.
A subtle nod to the character’s profession is found on the side of the case, which features the “Fujiwara Tofu Shop (Private Use)” logo.
The case back is printed with a wheel design and the 30th-anniversary logo to mark the occasion.
Functionally, it is equipped with a solar quartz movement (VR42) that runs for approximately four months on a full charge.
It also boasts a power reserve indicator to ensure the user knows how much energy remains.
The timepiece features water resistance up to 10 atmospheres and utilizes mineral glass to protect the face and the case is constructed from stainless steel and measures 40mm in diameter.
Customers will receive a metal keychain as a purchase bonus.
The watch is priced at 36,300 yen (approx. $240 USD / £190 GBP) and it is available for purchase at watch retailers across Japan, as well as via the official Angel Clover online store.
