Mega Dragonite and “Rampaging Mega Evolution” revealed in Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A’s latest trailer

New details for the upcoming game Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A were revealed earlier today during a “Pokémon Presents” broadcast.
A new trailer for the game showcased a core element of its story, new characters, and most importantly, the official reveal of a long-awaited new Mega Evolution.

The game is the next installment in the LEGENDS sub-series, which is known for exploring the history and lore of the Pokémon world in a more action-oriented RPG format.

This new title is set in the Kalos region and reintroduces the popular “Mega Evolution” battle mechanic.
Artwork showcasing some of the Mega Evolutions that will be included in the game was revealed earlier this year.

The new trailer revealed one of the central conflicts in the game’s story: a mysterious phenomenon known as “Rampaging Mega Evolution.”

It appears that wild Pokémon in the game’s setting are suddenly undergoing Mega Evolution without a human trainer, causing them to become violent and dangerous threats.
A scene in the trailer showed a Rampaging Mega Tyranitar in the midst of a destructive battle.

The most discussed reveal from the new footage, however, was the official debut of a Mega Evolution for the Pokémon Dragonite.
Dragonite is a popular and powerful pseudo-legendary Pokémon from the very first generation of games.

Despite the Mega Evolution mechanic being introduced over a decade ago, Dragonite has never officially received such a form, and a “Mega Dragonite” has been one of the most persistent and long-running desires within the fan community.

The new trailer provided the first look at Mega Dragonite’s official design, which was met with immediate and widespread excitement from fans online.

The footage suggests that players will be able to partner with their own Mega Evolved Pokémon to battle against the rampaging wild ones.
Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A will be available on both the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2.
The game is scheduled to be released on Thursday, the 16th of October, 2025 and the new trailer can now be viewed on YouTube:
