Hana-Kimi Anime Season 2 Now in Production

The official website and social media channels for the Hana-Kimi anime adaptation confirmed on March 22, 2026, that a second season has been greenlit for production.
The announcement was accompanied by a fresh teaser trailer, though the production committee has not yet settled on a specific premiere date for the new episodes.
The upcoming season will continue the school life saga of the protagonists as they navigate various campus events, budding friendships, and romantic developments.
Based on the manga by the late Hisaya Nakajo, the original series was serialized in Hana to Yume magazine from September 1996 through August 2004, eventually spanning 23 compiled volumes.
The television anime is being produced at animation studio Signal.MD under the direction of Natsuki Takemura.
The creative team includes Shigeru Ueda as assistant director, Takao Yoshioka handling series composition, and Shi Yi Su providing character designs.
The musical score for the series is composed by Masaru Yokoyama, whose work sets the tone for the show’s blend of comedy and drama.
Crunchyroll currently handles the international streaming rights for the first season.
The plot centers on Mizuki, a girl who disguises herself as a boy to enroll in an all-male boarding school so she can meet her high jump idol, Izumi Sano.
As Mizuki works to keep her identity a secret in the chaotic environment of the boys’ dorm, she must also encourage Sano to return to the sport he unexpectedly quit.
