One Piece Gives Luffy a Major Upgrade for New Official Post-Timeskip Figure

Bandai has officially revealed a new and improved premium action figure of One Piece’s Monkey D. Luffy, rebuilding the Straw Hat captain with all-new construction and a substantially expanded range of movement in comparison to previous releases.
The “S.H.Figuarts Monkey D. Luffy -New World-” recreates Luffy following the series’ two-year timeskip, dressed in the familiar red shirt, blue shorts, and yellow sash he wears when the Straw Hat Pirates reunite at Sabaody Archipelago.

That reunion follows the crew’s crushing defeat at Sabaody, where Bartholomew Kuma separates the Straw Hats and sends each member to a different location before Luffy becomes involved in the events of Marineford.

After sending his crewmates the coded “3D2Y” message, Luffy spends two years training under Silvers Rayleigh and learns to use Observation, Armament, and Conqueror’s Haki before setting out for the New World.

Bandai has developed a completely new body for the figure, which replaces the older standard Luffy S.H.Figuarts body that has been in use for a number of years across multiple releases, with butterfly joints across the shoulders allowing his arms to move further forwards and backwards during attack poses.

His lower body has also been redesigned with updated hip joints, double-jointed knees, and improved movement around the waist, making deeper crouching poses possible without heavily disrupting the sculpt.

Movable sections around the shorts and yellow sash provide additional clearance for the legs, complementing the wider articulation rather than restricting Luffy to more upright poses.

The updated sculpt improves several other details from his post-timeskip appearance, including the X-shaped scar across his chest, which has now been given a more accurate, slightly purple finish to contrast against the darker red used for his shirt.

That scar was left by Akainu during the Battle of Marineford, another period of Luffy’s story Bandai has recently revisited through S.H.Figuarts with a new Sakazuki figure that includes an additional expression for the separately sold Marineford version of Luffy.

Standing approximately 14.5 cm tall, the upgraded “S.H.Figuarts Monkey D. Luffy -New World-” comes with four pairs of interchangeable hands, three additional expressions, and replacement hair parts.

Bandai is also releasing a dedicated option parts set that expands the figure with several of the abilities Luffy developed during his training with Rayleigh.

The set includes replacement arms recreating Armament Haki, an alternate expression and hair piece, alongside translucent effects for Gum-Gum Red Hawk and red-and-black lightning representing Conqueror’s Haki.

The same post-timeskip period recently inspired Tamashii Nations’ “Figuarts ZERO [STARTune] Monkey D. Luffy -Setting Sail for the New World-,” which takes a more elaborate fixed-display approach to Luffy’s departure for the next stage of his journey.

Another member of the Straw Hat crew has also been confirmed to be receiving a major upgrade, with Bandai recently sharing the first images of a new S.H.Figuarts Nami based on her appearance following the two-year timeskip.

The upcoming Nami figure recreates her look when the crew reunites at Sabaody, including her Log Pose and bracelets alongside a pearlescent Sorcery Clima-Tact developed using the knowledge and technology she acquired while training on Weatheria.

Butterfly joints are used across Nami’s shoulders alongside double-jointed elbows and knees, although full product details, pricing, and release timing have yet to be announced.

Pre-orders for the “S.H.Figuarts Monkey D. Luffy -New World-“, priced at ¥4,400 (approximately $28 / £21), are now open with the majority of reputable hobby goods retailers ahead of its release in April 2027.

The matching “Monkey D. Luffy -New World- Option Parts Set” is also now available to pre-order for ¥4,950 (approximately $31 / £24) and will release during the same month.
