One Piece Returns to the Battle of Marineford for New Official Akainu Figure
One Piece’s Sakazuki is getting a new S.H.Figuarts figure based on his appearance during the Battle of Marineford, complete with a fabric Marine coat and a large selection of magma effect parts.
The “S.H.Figuarts Sakazuki (Akainu) -Marineford-” recreates the former Marine Admiral during one of the most important battles in the series, standing approximately 20cm tall and combining PVC, ABS and fabric parts.
Sakazuki is a Logia-type Devil Fruit user who possesses the Mag-Mag Fruit, allowing him to transform his body into magma and produce attacks powerful enough to burn through almost anything in their path.
His belief in “Absolute Justice” also makes him one of the Marines’ most ruthless figures, with Sakazuki willing to turn on his own men if he believes they have abandoned their duty.
That attitude played a major role during the Marineford War, where he fought Whitebeard and relentlessly pursued Luffy before delivering the attack that killed Portgas D. Ace as he protected his younger brother.
Following the war, Sakazuki defeated fellow Admiral Kuzan during a ten-day battle for leadership of the Marines and eventually became Fleet Admiral.
Bandai’s new figure focuses specifically on his Marineford appearance, recreating his red suit, cap, and white Marine coat while giving collectors enough articulation to reproduce a range of battle poses.
The coat itself is made from lightweight fabric rather than solid plastic, helping it sit more naturally around the figure while leaving Sakazuki’s arms and upper body free to move.
Four interchangeable expressions and three pairs of standard hands are included, giving the figure several options for both calmer poses and Sakazuki’s more aggressive moments during the battle.
His Mag-Mag Fruit abilities receive their own selection of accessories, including replacement hands covered in flowing magma and a much larger magma arm that can be used to recreate his attacks from the anime.
Bandai has also included parts designed specifically to work with other figures from its Marineford S.H.Figuarts collection.
A special magma-effect arm can be attached to the separately sold Portgas D. Ace figure to recreate the moment Sakazuki’s attack passes through Ace, while an additional expression is included for the Marineford version of Luffy to recreate his reaction to the scene.
The release continues Bandai’s expanding collection of S.H.Figuarts based on the Marineford War, which has already included characters such as Luffy and Boa Hancock, while a new version of Red-Haired Shanks was fully revealed earlier this year following an initial teaser.
Shanks’ figure recreates his arrival during the final stages of the battle, where he stops Sakazuki from attacking Koby before bringing the Marineford War to an end.
Pre-orders for the “S.H.Figuarts Sakazuki (Akainu) -Marineford-,” priced at ¥16,500 (approximately $105 / £78), are now open through Premium Bandai Japan ahead of its scheduled March 2027 release.
