Sony and Sanrio have launched their first-ever Hello Kitty collaboration, pairing two of Sony’s latest devices with exclusive character accessories and digital extras.

The Sony Store-exclusive project features the “Xperia 10 VIII” smartphone and “WH-CH730N” wireless noise-cancelling headphones, with each sold as a separate Hello Kitty bundle.

Hello Kitty first appeared in 1974 and has since grown into Sanrio’s most internationally recognizable character, with collaborations spanning everything from fashion and food to watches, travel and technology.

Her recent partnerships have included a four-watch collection with Swiss luxury manufacturer Franck Muller and a first-ever collaboration with Sushiro featuring themed food, exclusive merchandise and decorated restaurants across Japan.

Sony’s new releases take a more understated approach, as neither the Xperia 10 VIII nor WH-CH730N has Hello Kitty artwork printed or engraved directly onto the device.

Instead, the Xperia bundle includes an exclusive black sacoche and tote bag decorated with Hello Kitty artwork, alongside a special Fan Sync card that adds character-themed digital features to the phone.

Holding the card against the back of the Xperia 10 VIII allows owners to switch the home and lock screens to exclusive Hello Kitty wallpapers and changes sounds including the phone’s charging notification.

The smartphone itself is available in Frozen White, Frost Gray and Misty Lilac, allowing buyers to select their preferred color regardless of the shared black design used for the collaboration bags.

Sony’s Xperia 10 VIII features a display that is around 50% brighter than its predecessor, upgraded speakers and a new Point & Pay menu designed to provide quicker access to frequently used payment and loyalty services.

The separate “WH-CH730N Sony × Hello Kitty Collaboration Model” pairs Sony’s newly released wireless headphones with an exclusive black tote and a large Hello Kitty-themed headphone pouch.

Fans can choose the headphones in black, white, blue, beige or pink, with the character accessories remaining the same across all five versions.

The WH-CH730N uses dual noise sensor technology to reduce surrounding sound and supports up to approximately 75 hours of continuous playback with noise cancelling switched off.

Its foldable design is intended to make the headphones easier to carry, making the oversized Hello Kitty pouch a fitting addition to a model designed with portable everyday listening in mind.

Hello Kitty has also appeared across several other premium releases this year, including Steiff’s first collection under its new long-term Sanrio partnership, which ranged from everyday plush products to a limited mohair figure produced in just 1,974 pieces.
