GU is a major apparel brand in Japan, owned by the same parent company as Uniqlo, and is known for its affordable, trend-focused clothing and frequent pop culture collaborations.

The teaser post was formatted as a “#GUCollabQuiz,” asking followers to guess the identity of three characters shown only in silhouette.

The accompanying copyright information, “© Nintendo / HAL Laboratory, Inc.,” confirms that the collaboration is with the Kirby franchise.

The silhouettes are clearly identifiable as the main character, Kirby, his common companion Waddle Dee, and the classic boss character, Whispy Woods.

A key detail in the image is that both Kirby and Waddle Dee appear to be wearing chef’s hats and aprons.

This specific detail has led to widespread fan speculation that the new collection will be themed around the official “Kirby Café,” a popular, reservation-only restaurant with locations in Japan.
