Second Reincarnation Of A Talentless Sage Anime Adds New Cast Members
A stage event at AnimeJapan on March 29, 2026, confirmed four additional cast members for the upcoming television anime adaptation of From Overshadowed to Overpowered: Second Reincarnation of a Talentless Sage.
The newly announced voice actors include Hiroki Tochi as the elderly version of the protagonist Ephtal and the Sage, Ayaka Fukuhara as the child version of Ephtal, Emiri Kato as Iria, and Daisuke Hirakawa as Fraser.
These performers join the previously announced main cast featuring Shuichiro Umeda as Ephtal, Reo Osanai as Anastasia, and Haruka Shiraishi as Merlin.
The fantasy series is scheduled to begin its broadcast in July 2026.
Director Hisashi Ishii is leading the project at studio EMT Squared, working alongside series composer Deko Akao and character designer Hideki Furukawa.
The anime is based on the light novel series by Arata Shiraishi, which originally launched on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in 2018 before being published in print by Kadokawa Shoten starting in October 2019.
The original light novels concluded with eight volumes in March 2022, while a manga adaptation by Kentarou has also reached eight volumes as of June 2025.
The story follows a reincarnated man named Ephtal who was once considered talentless in magic but finds himself unmatched after reincarnating again 400 years into the future.
In this new era, magic has declined significantly, allowing Ephtal to use his retained knowledge and power to reach the peak of magical ability.
