Pokémon’s 30th Anniversary Coffee Collab Returns with New Can Designs and Exclusive Merch

Suntory is expanding its BOSS Coffee collaboration with Pokémon this September through new drinks, redesigned packaging and several limited prize campaigns celebrating the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
Pokémon began with the Japanese release of Pokémon Red and Green on February 27, 1996, before growing into a worldwide franchise built around discovering, training and battling hundreds of different creatures.

This latest promotion follows the first wave of BOSS Coffee’s Pokémon 30th anniversary collaboration from June 2026, which introduced a first wave of Pokédex-themed cans for fans to collect.

Leading the new collaboration is BOSS Rekisen no Bito, a slightly sweet canned coffee created to recognize people who have continued working through years of challenges alongside dependable partners.

Suntory tested more than 100 blends before selecting the final recipe, named “Full-Power Blend Lv. 100,” which is described as having a strong flavor built around noticeable bitterness and richness.

Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise appear on the side of the can as fully evolved versions of the original Kanto starter Pokémon, presenting the trio as experienced partners who have overcome countless battles.

Five existing drinks will also be part of the second wave of Pokémon Pokédex Cans, which will include BOSS Rainbow Mountain Blend, BOSS Luxurious Slightly Sweet, BOSS Unsweetened Black, BOSS Café au Lait and Premium BOSS Slightly Sweet.

The redesigned cans feature Pikachu alongside the starter trios from the Kalos, Alola, Galar and Paldea regions, with each label also including information inspired by the in-game Pokédex.

BOSS Café au Lait will receive an updated recipe as part of the relaunch, while the other featured canned coffees will only receive new anniversary packaging with no changes to their flavor.
Eligible six-can packs will give buyers the chance to enter a lottery for one of three BOSS denim jackets embroidered with Venusaur, Charizard or Blastoise across the back.

Five of each jacket will be awarded through the five-pack entry course, while the one-pack course will offer 3,000 winners a ¥1,500 BOSS QUO Card (approx. $10 USD / £8 GBP).

A separate QR code campaign will offer four footprint-themed T-shirt designs to 375 winners each, while 98,500 additional entrants will receive ¥10 in Gift Pay points.
Craft BOSS Black, Latte and Unsweetened Italiano will receive a different makeover through the “Pokémon Relaxing Labels” collection, which matches the slower drinking style of bottled coffee with nine laid-back Pokémon.

Craft BOSS Black will feature Psyduck, Munchlax and Clodsire, while the Latte labels will showcase Quagsire, Audino and Alcremie.

Swablu, Goomy and Rowlet will appear across the Unsweetened Italiano designs, giving each drink three different character labels to look out for.

The Craft BOSS campaign will also offer two oversized Pokémon prizes through the brand’s official X account, with entry requiring users to follow the account and repost a specific promotional post.
The first prize is a Psyduck “Amnesia” pillow intended for those moments when you would rather forget a frustrating day, with five available between September 1 and September 14, 2026.

The second is a giant 180 cm Clodsire cushion that can be straddled like Wooper riding on its back, with five available through entries submitted between September 18 and October 1, 2026.
The six-pack purchase campaign will accept entries from August 31 at 9:00 AM until November 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM JST, while the QR code promotion will run from September 1, 2026, through January 31, 2027.

BOSS Rekisen no Bito, the second Pokémon Pokédex Can collection, and the Pokémon Relaxing Label Craft BOSS bottles will launch at participating retailers across Japan on September 1, 2026.
