Bandai Releases New 7-Disc Gundam Wing 30th Anniversary Soundtrack Collection
Image by Charlotte DavisBandai has released a huge new soundtrack collection for Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, celebrating the anime’s 30th anniversary with seven CDs of music spanning its original score, theme songs, insert tracks and character music.
The Mobile Suit Gundam Wing ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK COLLECTION arrives as part of the wider anniversary celebrations surrounding the influential 1995 anime, bringing a substantial amount of its music together within a single physical release.

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing follows five young Gundam pilots sent to Earth as part of Operation Meteor, with Heero Yuy and his Wing Gundam becoming central to a conflict involving the space colonies, OZ and the powerful Romefeller Foundation.
The series became particularly important to Gundam’s international growth when it arrived on Cartoon Network’s Toonami in the US in 2000, introducing a generation of American viewers to the franchise and helping establish characters including Heero, Duo Maxwell and Relena Peacecraft outside Japan.

Music played a major role in creating the atmosphere of Gundam Wing, with composer Kow Otani providing the dramatic background score heard throughout its Mobile Suit battles, political confrontations and quieter character moments.
The new collection goes beyond Otani’s instrumental score by incorporating vocal tracks from TWO-MIX, Rumi Ohishi and other artists associated with the anime.
TWO-MIX became especially closely linked with Gundam Wing through songs including its opening themes JUST COMMUNICATION and RHYTHM EMOTION, both of which remain among the best-known pieces of music from the series.

Insert songs and character tracks broaden the selection further, making the set a retrospective of Gundam Wing’s wider musical history rather than simply a reissue of its original background music albums.
The anniversary treatment extends to the packaging, with illustrator Hidetaka Tenjin creating brand-new Wing Gundam artwork specifically for the collection.

Tenjin is well known to Gundam fans for his detailed mechanical illustrations and extensive work on Gunpla packaging, and his “Artistry of Gundam” book was recently released in the US for the first time.

First-run copies are presented in an LP-style jacket that gives the new Wing Gundam illustration far more room than conventional CD packaging and makes the artwork an important part of the overall release.
The Gundam Wing collection is the second of three major soundtrack releases revisiting Gundam television anime from the 1990s, following the five-disc Mobile Fighter G Gundam ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK COLLECTION that launched on July 15.

A three-disc After War Gundam X ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK COLLECTION will complete the trio on September 16, bringing music from another of the decade’s most popular alternate-universe Gundam series back into print.

Purchasing all three soundtrack collections through participating retailers will qualify fans for a special bonus consisting of three acrylic blocks featuring the newly commissioned cover illustrations.

The Mobile Suit Gundam Wing ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK COLLECTION is priced at ¥14,080 (approx. $89 USD / £65 GBP) and can be purchased through participating music retailers and online stores within Japan.

Several retailers are offering exclusive bonuses for the Gundam Wing soundtrack release, with Rakuten Books providing an acrylic keychain, Seven Net Shopping including an acrylic coaster, Amazon Japan offering a Mega Jacket, and A-on STORE providing its own clear jacket bonus.

The seven-disc 30th anniversary collection officially launched on August 19, 2026, with its first-run LP-style packaging and individual retailer bonuses available while supplies last.
