Bandai has officially revealed an exclusive Gunpla kit that will soon arrive at a new Gundam Base store that is set to open as part of the first anniversary celebrations of the BHCPDII MUSEUM in Shizuoka, Japan.

BHCPDII MUSEUM, known by fans as Japan’s official “Gundam Museum,” is located inside Bandai Hobby Center’s new plastic model production facility in Shizuoka and was created to give visitors a closer look at how Gunpla and other model kits progress from initial planning and design through molds, injection molding and final packaging.

The approximately 1,500-square-meter attraction includes an operating factory tour, interactive model kit development experiences, plastic molding demonstrations and a collection of more than 4,300 model kit products, alongside a Gunpla monument built at the scale a model would reach if its Gundam were life-sized.

Visitors can also work through the different stages of model kit production using touchscreen activities and create their own package design to take home, making the museum as much about the process behind Gunpla as the finished kits themselves.

The centerpiece of the first anniversary celebrations is the opening of THE GUNDAM BASE ANNEX in BHCPDII MUSEUM, a new official store located directly inside the museum.

The ANNEX format focuses heavily on Gundam souvenirs, and the Shizuoka location will stock Gunpla alongside apparel, accessories, snacks and other merchandise, becoming the third Gundam Base ANNEX location in Japan after Tokyo and New Chitose Airport.

For the opening of THE GUNDAM BASE ANNEX in BHCPDII MUSEUM, Bandai has revealed the new and exclusive MG 1/100 Shin Musha Gundam [BHCPDII Color], which gives the normally red samurai-inspired Mobile Suit an extensive new color scheme based on the blue and white colors of the museum and its logo.

Shin Musha Gundam itself originated as a realistic-proportioned reinterpretation of the Musha Gundam concept for the PlayStation 3 game Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, with the design created by Hajime Katoki and combining traditional Japanese samurai armor influences with the mechanical styling of Gundam.

The new Master Grade keeps the articulation and extensive weapon selection of the original kit while replacing its familiar crimson armor with deep blue, white and metallic components that give the model a completely different appearance.

Exposed silver components use Bandai’s Real Metallic Gloss Injection molding to produce a metallic appearance without requiring paint, while the weapon blades receive plated finishes that further separate the anniversary version from the standard release.

Its arsenal remains one of the strongest parts of the Shin Musha Gundam design, including the Nichirinmaru tachi, Sankomaru spear, Tanegashima cannon and Denkoumaru naginata, with unused weapons able to attach around the waist and back.

The MG 1/100 Shin Musha Gundam [BHCPDII Color], priced at ¥5,800 (approx. $37 USD / £27 GBP), will be sold as a BHCPDII-exclusive release through the new museum store.

A Haropla Haro Basic Green [BHCPDII Package Ver.], priced at ¥550 (approx. $3 USD / £3 GBP), will launch alongside it with specially created anniversary packaging, although the Haro model contained inside is unchanged from the regular release.
