Gundam Base’s Exclusive Gold-Plated Burning Gundam Goes Online for Gundam Winter Fest 2026
Bandai is giving US Gunpla collectors a rare opportunity to purchase one of Gundam Base’s most impressive gold-plated kits online, with the Burning Gundam Hyper Mode now available as part of a major limited-time promotional event.
The “RG 1/144 THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED BURNING GUNDAM HYPER MODE” joins more than 200 Gunpla kits and related accessories returning through Premium Bandai US for Gundam Winter Fest 2026, including a selection of normally store-exclusive Gundam Base models.
Burning Gundam, known as God Gundam in Japan, originates from the 1994 anime Mobile Fighter G Gundam, serving as the successor to Domon Kasshu’s Shining Gundam during the 13th Gundam Fight tournament.
Unlike the military-focused conflicts of many other Gundam series, G Gundam centered on a martial arts competition in which representatives from different nations battled using specialized Mobile Fighters controlled through their pilots’ physical movements.
Burning Gundam’s Hyper Mode represents the machine operating at its full potential, with its armor turning gold when Domon achieves the heightened mental state known as Meikyo Shisui, or the Clear and Serene Mind.
Bandai originally released the Gundam Base-exclusive Real Grade kit in March 2025, recreating this appearance with four different types of gold plating applied across its exterior armor and mechanical components.
Based on the popular “RG 1/144 Burning Gundam” originally released in 2022, the limited edition retains the elaborate internal engineering and extensive articulation of the standard model while replacing its familiar red, white, and blue coloring with a brilliant metallic finish.
The different shades of gold provide contrast between the armor sections, allowing the underlying mechanical details to remain visible despite the reflective plating.
The model also retains the Real Grade’s sophisticated joint mechanisms, which were designed to reproduce the dynamic martial arts movements associated with Domon and his signature fighting style.
These include articulated shoulders, flexible waist joints, and an extensive range of movement in the legs, allowing builders to recreate flying kicks, defensive stances, and other poses from the anime.
Burning Gundam’s Hyper Mode transformation is reproduced through movable armor sections around the shoulders and chest, alongside the opening wings of its Core Lander backpack.
The kit also includes a large circular energy effect designed to represent the golden halo that appears behind Burning Gundam during its most powerful attacks.
The effect consists of three overlapping rings with different color gradients, allowing the completed model to be displayed in a dramatic recreation of the anime’s Hyper Mode sequences.
Additional equipment includes the Gundam’s paired Burning Slash beam swords, opening chest-mounted Machine Cannons, and a selection of interchangeable hands for recreating its signature Burning Finger and Sekiha Tenkyoken attacks.
Specialized marking stickers are also provided, including the King of Hearts emblem associated with Domon and additional details for the head sensors and interior shoulder components.
One of the biggest additions to this Gundam Base edition is a dedicated display stand, accompanied by a clear-yellow Action Base 7 that supports the completed model in airborne poses.
The display also incorporates a reversible illustrated backdrop with two designs inspired by the anime, allowing builders to recreate different scenes alongside the gold-plated Gundam and its accompanying effects.
Gundam Winter Fest 2026 runs from November 6 at 5:00 PM PST until November 30 at 11:59 PM PST, temporarily making a substantial selection of Gunpla kits, Gundam Base limited models, and building accessories available through Premium Bandai US.
The “RG 1/144 THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED BURNING GUNDAM HYPER MODE” is currently in stock through Premium Bandai US for $197, with the online availability expected to last only for the duration of the promotion and potentially ending earlier if the available allocation sells out.
Premium Bandai US also offers free shipping on qualifying orders over $99 independently of the promotion, meaning the Gundam Base-exclusive kit qualifies for the standard offer without any additional purchases.
