Studio Ghibli has officially restocked an adorable My Neighbor Totoro kids sleeping bag that lets younger fans climb directly inside the giant forest spirit for bedtime.

The “My Neighbor Totoro Dreamy Sleeping Bag” recreates Big Totoro as a huge soft sleeping bag, with a zipper running across his stomach that opens to reveal enough space for a small child to fit completely inside.

Released in 1988 and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, My Neighbor Totoro follows sisters Satsuki and Mei after moving with their father to the Japanese countryside while their mother recovers in hospital.

The pair gradually discover mysterious creatures living around their new home, including the enormous forest spirit Totoro, whose appearances have helped make him one of Studio Ghibli’s most recognizable characters.

Totoro’s famously round body makes a particularly fitting shape for the returning sleeping bag, with his large stomach forming the main sleeping area and his ears and arms extending out around the sides.

The complete sleeping bag measures approximately 122 x 140 cm when those ears and arms are included, giving children enough room to disappear inside after opening the stomach zipper.

A separate Totoro pillow measuring approximately 28 x 39 cm is also included, allowing the character-themed setup to continue even once the sleeping bag is opened.

The sleeping bag uses lightweight microfiber fabric designed to provide a warm and comfortable feel.

Studio Ghibli has also restocked the “My Neighbor Totoro Dream Journey Catbus Sleeping Bag,” which applies the same idea to the movie’s much longer and equally recognizable feline transport.

The Catbus version stretches to approximately 192 x 138 cm when its ears and hands are included and also comes with a small matching pillow, giving fans another way to wrap themselves up in one of the movie’s most memorable characters.

Catbus plays a particularly memorable role late in My Neighbor Totoro when Totoro summons the enormous twelve-legged creature to help Satsuki search for Mei, before carrying the sisters to the hospital where their mother is recovering.

Catbus has since become one of the movie’s most recognizable characters, appearing throughout Studio Ghibli merchandise ranging from plush toys and household accessories to much larger display pieces such as the Catbus “Mi~tsuketa!” statue, which Studio Ghibli brought back in 2025 after it had previously sold out.

The sleeping bags are not the only older Totoro home accessories to return recently, with Studio Ghibli bringing back its ocarina-playing humidifier as the colder months approached.

That smaller desktop release recreates Big Totoro playing his ocarina above a fallen log, with mist emerging directly from the instrument while Small Totoro and several Soot Sprites appear around the scene.

The “My Neighbor Totoro Dreamy Sleeping Bag” is priced at ¥19,800 (approximately $125 / £95) and is now available through Studio Ghibli’s official Donguri Kyowakoku online store following its latest restock.

Donguri Kyowakoku does not offer international shipping, so fans in the US and other countries wanting to purchase the sleeping bag will need to use a third-party proxy or forwarding service that provides a Japanese delivery address before arranging onward shipping to their home address.

Official Studio Ghibli merchandise has become easier to access in the US during 2026, however, thanks to the opening of Donguri Republic’s first American pop-up store in the Los Angeles area.
