Studio Ghibli to Open First-Ever Official US Merch Store in Los Angeles

Studio Ghibli has confirmed that its official merchandise store, Donguri Republic, will soon open in the United States for the first time.
The launch will be the first opportunity for fans in the United States to visit a dedicated Donguri Republic retail location, representing a major milestone for Studio Ghibli merchandise in the American market.

Studio Ghibli has produced some of the most influential animated movies in cinema history, including My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Spirited Away.
Its films continue to attract audiences around the world through their imaginative storytelling, memorable characters, and richly crafted settings.

Donguri Republic serves as the studio’s official merchandise retail brand, carrying a broad assortment of collectibles, household items, accessories, and character-themed products.
The brand currently operates 40 stores across Japan in addition to locations in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Taiwan.

The new “Donguri Republic in Los Angeles” pop-up store will become the company’s first brick-and-mortar store in the United States, albeit for a limited time only.
Visitors to the temporary shop will be able to browse more than 400 Studio Ghibli-related products.

Merchandise inspired by fan-favorite films such as My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and other Studio Ghibli productions will be featured throughout the store.
The location has been designed to reflect the brand’s emphasis on warmth, comfort, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Various decorative elements inspired by Studio Ghibli’s worlds will be incorporated into the shopping experience.
Artwork on the exterior will reference scenes from My Neighbor Totoro, including imagery of Mei and the Small Totoro happily walking together.

A large Totoro display based on the iconic bus stop scene with the Catbus will welcome guests inside the store.
Natural wood-inspired design features throughout the interior are intended to evoke the cozy feeling associated with many Studio Ghibli films.

As part of the opening celebration, shoppers who spend more than $100 (approx. $100 USD/£74 GBP) in a single transaction will receive an exclusive Donguri Republic in Los Angeles tote bag while supplies remain available.
Each qualifying transaction will be eligible for one tote bag only.

An additional promotional campaign will coincide with screenings held during STUDIO GHIBLI FEST 2026.
Customers who show a physical or digital ticket for an eligible STUDIO GHIBLI FEST 2026 screening and spend at least $10 (approx. $10 USD/£7 GBP) in the store will receive a complimentary bookmark designed to resemble a strip of film.

The bookmark giveaway will feature six different designs.
These bookmarks will be distributed during the theatrical runs of participating Studio Ghibli films and will remain available only while supplies last.

Through the project, the company hopes to introduce Studio Ghibli’s stories, characters, and creative legacy to an even broader audience.
Donguri Republic in Los Angeles will operate as a limited-time store from June 23, 2026, through December 31, 2026, at the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance, California.

Operating hours are planned for 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Saturday and 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Sundays.
