Studio Ghibli’s Official My Neighbor Totoro Humidifier Returns Just in Time for Winter
Image by Charlotte DavisStudio Ghibli has brought back an adorable My Neighbor Totoro humidifier just in time for the colder months, giving fans another chance to add the playful home accessory to their collection.
The “My Neighbor Totoro Little Humidifier Ocarina-Playing Totoro” recreates Big Totoro playing his ocarina, with a stream of mist emerging directly from the instrument while several smaller details from the movie surround him.
Released in 1988 and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, My Neighbor Totoro follows sisters Satsuki and Mei after they move to the Japanese countryside and begin encountering mysterious forest spirits living near their new home.
Totoro becomes the most famous of those creatures, with his nighttime ocarina performances providing some of the movie’s most peaceful and charming scenes.
The humidifier builds directly around that image, positioning Big Totoro on top of the water reservoir with his ocarina raised to his mouth.
Rather than hiding the humidifier outlet behind the character, the mist emerges through the end of the ocarina itself, creating the effect that Totoro is blowing a soft cloud from the instrument.
There are plenty of smaller touches surrounding him as well, including a Small Totoro blowing on flowers near his feet and Soot Sprites hiding around the fallen log beneath the pair.
Those sculpted details mean it still works as a cute piece of Totoro decor when the humidifier is switched off, rather than looking like a standard desktop appliance.
Using it requires filling the bottle with water and connecting the included USB cable to a compatible USB port or AC adapter, although an adapter is not included.
A full tank can run for approximately eight hours without needing to be refilled, with an automatic shut-off activating after around eight hours of use.
The Totoro humidifier is joined by two other Studio Ghibli designs that have also been restocked for the dry season, including a Howl’s Moving Castle version where mist rises around Calcifer during a cooking scene and a Kiki’s Delivery Service version that sends mist from a coffee cup beside Jiji.
Studio Ghibli’s official Donguri Republic merchandise brand has also expanded its presence in the US during 2026, opening its first American pop-up store in Los Angeles with hundreds of products based on movies including My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service and Howl’s Moving Castle.
The “My Neighbor Totoro Little Humidifier Ocarina-Playing Totoro” is priced at ¥5,280 (approximately $33 / £25) through the official Donguri Kyowakoku online store.
Donguri Kyowakoku does not offer international shipping, so fans in the US and other countries will need to use a third-party proxy or forwarding service that provides a Japanese delivery address before arranging onward shipping to their home address.
