Howl’s Moving Castle’s Official Calcifer Humidifier Returns Just in Time for Winter
Image by Charlotte DavisStudio Ghibli has announced a restock of their popular official Howl’s Moving Castle humidifier, giving Calcifer fans another chance to add the playful home accessory to their collection.
The “Howl’s Moving Castle Little Humidifier Calcifer’s Bacon and Eggs” places the fire demon beneath a frying pan loaded with breakfast, with mist rising directly from the food to make it look as though the bacon and eggs are still cooking.

Directed by Hayao Miyazaki and released in 2004, Howl’s Moving Castle adapts Diana Wynne Jones’ novel of the same name and follows Sophie after a curse transforms her into an elderly woman.

Her search for a way to break the spell leads her to the enormous walking castle belonging to wizard Howl, where she meets Calcifer, a fire demon bound to Howl through a magical contract.

Calcifer lives inside the castle’s fireplace and provides the magical power that keeps the enormous structure moving, although his fiery role also makes him useful for more ordinary jobs around the home.

The humidifier draws directly on one of those lighter moments, recreating the memorable breakfast scene where a frying pan filled with bacon and eggs is cooked over Calcifer’s flames.

Calcifer sits beneath the pan with his orange and yellow flames forming the base of the display, while the food itself rests immediately above him.

Mist emerges from the frying pan rather than from a separate visible outlet, creating the illusion of steam rising from the freshly cooked breakfast.

That makes the humidifier function feel like a natural extension of the scene itself, particularly when the mist gathers above the eggs and bacon as Calcifer burns underneath.

The complete design also works as a small piece of Howl’s Moving Castle decor when switched off, with Calcifer and the breakfast scene remaining visible without the mist effect.

The compact humidifier uses USB power, with an included cable that can be connected to a compatible USB port or AC adapter after the internal bottle has been filled with water.

An AC adapter is not included, while a full tank provides approximately eight hours of use without needing to be refilled.

The humidifier automatically switches itself off after around eight hours, matching the approximate running time available from a full bottle of water.

The Calcifer design originally debuted in December 2022 as one of four small Studio Ghibli humidifiers based on scenes from different movies.

It is joined in the current restock by two other returning humidifiers, with My Neighbor Totoro represented by Big Totoro playing his ocarina and Kiki’s Delivery Service featuring Jiji beside a breakfast spread and steaming red mug.

Another Calcifer-themed home accessory has also recently returned, with Studio Ghibli restocking the “Howl’s Moving Castle Calcifer Flickering Candle Light,” a small ambient lamp that shifts between red and blue to recreate the changing colors of his flames.

The “Howl’s Moving Castle Little Humidifier Calcifer’s Bacon and Eggs” has now been restocked through Studio Ghibli’s official Donguri Kyowakoku online store for ¥5,280 (approximately $33 / £25).

Donguri Kyowakoku does not offer international shipping, so fans in the US and other countries will need to use a third-party proxy or forwarding service that provides a Japanese delivery address before arranging onward shipping to their home address.
