Gundam ZZ Reveals New 40th Anniversary Judau Ashta Flight Jacket

Bandai has revealed a new premium military-style flight jacket inspired by Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ’s protagonist Judau Ashta, created in collaboration with American clothing manufacturer ALPHA INDUSTRIES.
The new “STRICT-G ALPHA Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ N-2B HERITAGE FIT PARKA Judau Ashta Model” features nine military-inspired patches and a sage-green exterior, with a matching T-shirt and an exclusive acrylic stand also announced as part of the collaboration.

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ premiered in 1986 and is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026, having continued the Universal Century storyline as a direct sequel to Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.
Picking up after the AEUG’s devastating conflict with the Titans, the anime follows Judau Ashta, a teenage junk dealer living on the Shangri-La space colony who becomes involved with the AEUG and eventually takes control of the powerful MSZ-010 ZZ Gundam.

Alongside his fellow pilots, Judau becomes involved in the First Neo Zeon War, battling the forces of Haman Karn as they attempt to establish control over the Earth Sphere.
The new jacket has been developed by STRICT-G, Bandai’s official Gundam fashion label, which regularly collaborates with established clothing manufacturers to produce apparel inspired by the franchise’s characters and military organizations.

ALPHA INDUSTRIES was founded in 1959 and became a contractor for the US military, producing flight jackets and other outerwear before expanding into civilian fashion.

The brand has worked with STRICT-G on numerous previous collections, including a burgundy MA-1 NATUS flight jacket inspired by Judau Ashta’s appearance in Gundam ZZ, which was released in October 2023 alongside a matching Haman Karn model.

For its latest release, ALPHA INDUSTRIES has selected the N-2B flight jacket, a shorter variation of the N-3B-style military parka originally developed for pilots operating in extremely cold conditions.

The jacket features a sage-green nylon exterior decorated with nine embroidered patches, combining Gundam ZZ references with the military styling associated with ALPHA INDUSTRIES’ heritage designs.

Its shorter cut is accompanied by a fur-trimmed hood that can be divided into two sections using a central zipper, allowing it to sit more comfortably across the shoulders when not being worn over the head.

A full-length front zipper is covered by an additional button-fastened storm flap, helping prevent cold air from entering through the jacket’s main opening.

The exterior and lining are both constructed from nylon, with polyester insulation providing additional warmth and ribbed sections around the cuffs and hem helping maintain a closer fit.

Other materials include artificial fur and genuine cowhide leather, with the combination of different textures giving the jacket a more substantial appearance than the lightweight MA-1 designs used in several earlier Gundam collaborations.

Bandai has also announced a matching “STRICT-G ALPHA Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ Judau Ashta T-Shirt”, featuring a design inspired by the AEUG organization that Judau joins during the anime.
The shirt uses heavyweight 9-ounce cotton with a snow-washed finish, giving the fabric a slightly faded appearance that varies between individual garments.

Its construction is intended to provide a durable, military-inspired alternative to conventional printed anime T-shirts, with the washed treatment adding to the worn-in styling of the collection.
Customers who purchase the new N-2B jacket will also receive an exclusive acrylic stand featuring newly commissioned artwork of Judau Ashta wearing the collaboration outfit.

The illustration has been created specifically for the release, with the accompanying stand measuring approximately 12.7 cm tall and 4.4 cm wide.
One acrylic stand will be included with each jacket purchased through either Premium Bandai or participating STRICT-G stores, with the bonus not available to order separately.

Bandai has also announced a number of other Gundam ZZ releases during the anniversary year, including a transforming METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Enhanced ZZ Gundam and a separately sold Full Armor Parts Set that allows collectors to recreate Judau’s heavily armed final configuration.

Two of Neo Zeon’s most powerful Mobile Suits are also joining the anniversary lineup, with a new ROBOT SPIRITS Quin Mantha and an updated Geymalk [Re: Coordinate] figure based on the machines piloted by Ple-Two and Chara Soon.

STRICT-G and ALPHA INDUSTRIES have also continued expanding their Gundam collaborations throughout 2026, including redesigned Amuro Ray and Char Aznable flight jackets inspired by Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack, which recently received an official US release.

Japanese pre-orders were scheduled to begin on October 23, 2026, through the STRICT-G Online Store on Premium Bandai Japan, although the opening remains dependent on the website recovering from maintenance that began the previous day.
Bandai has provisionally scheduled reservations to close on November 1, with shipping planned for November 2026, and any changes to the timetable expected to be announced shortly.

Both items will also go on general sale at participating STRICT-G stores across Japan from November 21, including locations in Tokyo, Shizuoka and Shiga, with the upcoming STRICT-G LUCUA Osaka store scheduled to join the rollout following its November 24 opening.

A US release through Premium Bandai US has not yet been confirmed, although recent STRICT-G and ALPHA INDUSTRIES collections have gone on sale there in the days or weeks following their initial Japanese pre-order openings.
American fans looking to pick up the new Judau jacket may therefore want to check Premium Bandai US regularly to see whether pre-orders have opened.
