2 New One Piece Films Officially Announced for 2027 and 2029

One Piece has officially announced two new movies, with ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY arriving in summer 2027 before the mysterious ONE PIECE FILM BAAD follows in 2029.
The surprise double announcement closed out ONE PIECE DAY ’26 at Makuhari Messe on August 23, ending the franchise’s annual celebration with its biggest movie update since ONE PIECE FILM RED arrived in 2022.

ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY will be the franchise’s first new theatrical movie in five years and is being positioned as part of the celebrations surrounding the manga’s 30th anniversary on July 22, 2027.

The God Valley Incident is one of the most important historical events in the One Piece story and a mystery that Eiichiro Oda substantially expanded upon in the manga during the past year.
Taking place decades before Luffy’s adventure, the incident brings together the infamous Rocks Pirates, a young Monkey D. Garp and Gol D. Roger in a conflict that went on to reshape the balance of power across the world.

Volume 114, released earlier in 2026, was heavily centered around revealing what actually happened at God Valley, making the announcement of a theatrical adaptation particularly timely for readers who have recently experienced the complete version of the story.

Bandai Spirits has already been producing figures based on characters involved in the incident, but the new movie will give fans the opportunity to experience it in animated form when it reaches Japanese theaters next summer.
The second announcement looks much further ahead, with ONE PIECE FILM BAAD scheduled for 2029 as part of the celebrations surrounding the television anime’s 30th anniversary on October 20 of that year.

Very little has been revealed about BAAD beyond its title and release year, leaving its story, characters and connection to the wider One Piece timeline completely open for now.
Eiichiro Oda personally drew the title image unveiled for the movie, adding another layer of intrigue to a project that will not reach theaters for another three years.
The two announcements follow the enormous success of ONE PIECE FILM RED, which eventually reached approximately ¥20.33 billion at the Japanese box office and attracted more than 14.7 million moviegoers after its original run and later encore screenings.

The movies were far from the only major updates to emerge from ONE PIECE DAY ’26, with the final results of the second worldwide WORLD TOP 100 character popularity poll also revealed during the event.

Monkey D. Luffy ultimately finished in first place with more than 2.3 million votes, followed by Roronoa Zoro in second and Sanji in third, while Nami and Trafalgar Law completed the top five.

The highest-ranked characters will now receive additional celebrations beginning during the manga’s 30th anniversary year, including newly drawn special outfits by Oda for the top 30 that will later be used across merchandise and other projects.
Netflix also used ONE PIECE DAY to expand the cast of its live-action adaptation’s third season, confirming Emilio Sakraya as Koza, Omid Abtahi as Toto, Jamie Ward as Pell and Nabil Khan as Chaka.

Season 3 will move into the Alabasta storyline and is scheduled to arrive in 2027, continuing the Straw Hat crew’s journey toward Vivi’s homeland and their confrontation with the forces manipulating the kingdom from behind the scenes.

The ONE PIECE Card Game also received a substantial update, with new cards shown for ONE PIECE Heroines Edition vol.2 alongside details of the upcoming OP-18 booster centered around Water Seven and the Knights of God.

Bandai also confirmed that OP-18 will feature specially commissioned artwork from legendary Final Fantasy illustrator Yoshitaka Amano, while Nico Robin is among the characters receiving new high-rarity artwork across the upcoming releases.

Elsewhere, WIT Studio’s THE ONE PIECE remake recently received new key artwork ahead of its worldwide Netflix debut in February 2027, adding another major animated project to what is quickly becoming an unusually busy period for the franchise.

ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY is currently scheduled to open across Japan in summer 2027, while ONE PIECE FILM BAAD will follow sometime in 2029, with international theatrical dates yet to be announced for either movie.
