Limited Re-Release Announced for Pokémon’s 30th Anniversary Mini Game Boy Music Player

The Pokémon Company has officially announced a second round of sales for a unique piece of nostalgic hardware created to celebrate the original Pokémon Red and Green video games.
Fans will now have another chance to secure the highly sought after “Pokémon GAME MUSIC COLLECTION,” which sold out almost immediately when it was first released.

The miniature device, which was based on the original Game Boy design, was originally unveiled earlier this year to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the massively successful monster-catching franchise.

The specialized player is specifically designed to resemble the classic handheld console at approximately one-third of its actual physical size.

It includes authentic details such as functional buttons, accurate physical engravings, and a specialized speaker that perfectly replicates the 8-bit sound quality of the 1996 releases.

Two different packaging versions were available for the first release; one based on the original Japanese game packaging and an international version based on the localized releases.

Fans can enjoy a total of 45 different classic tracks directly pulled from the original versions of the beloved video game series.

Each of these nostalgic tracks is included on its own miniature cartridge, which features a unique scene from the games that will appear “on screen” when successfully inserted into the player.

The device serves as both a high-quality music player and a miniature display piece for dedicated enthusiasts of the 90s gaming era.

Its compact dimensions allow it to be easily carried or displayed alongside other commemorative releases from the long history of the series.

Each button and decorative element has been carefully crafted to mirror the aesthetic of the Game Boy hardware.

The price for the “Pokémon GAME MUSIC COLLECTION” is set at 9,900 yen (approx. $66 USD / £52 GBP).
While the original release in February 2026 included availability on the international storefronts for the US, UK, and Canada, this latest re-release is strictly limited to the Japanese digital storefront at this time, with no immediate word on a corresponding international restock.

Sales are being handled entirely through a lottery system to ensure fair distribution.

The Japanese Pokémon Center Online is currently accepting applications, with the entry period scheduled to close at 4:59 PM (JST) on May 20, 2026.

Fans who successfully secure a winning ticket will be notified via email starting from 3:00 PM on May 22.

The strict order and payment period for successful applicants will run from the afternoon of May 22 until 4:59 PM on May 28.

Shipments for this second wave of the “Pokémon GAME MUSIC COLLECTION” are officially scheduled to begin rolling out to buyers between February 1 and February 15, 2027.
