Gundam’s Most Iconic Amphibious Mobile Suits Return for New ROBOT Spirits Re-Releases
Bandai is bringing four of Zeon’s most recognizable amphibious mobile suits back to its ROBOT Spirits ver. A.N.I.M.E. collection, including the machine behind one of Char Aznable’s most memorable scenes from the original Mobile Suit Gundam.
The returning lineup consists of Char’s Z’Gok, the mass-production Z’Gok, Acguy and Gogg, with each figure combining proportions based closely on their original animated appearances with extensive articulation and accessories designed around scenes from the series.
Mobile Suit Gundam originally aired in Japan in 1979 and introduced the conflict between the Earth Federation and Principality of Zeon during the One Year War, establishing the characters, mobile suits and Universal Century setting that would become the foundation of the wider Gundam franchise.
Zeon developed several specialized amphibious mobile suits during the conflict, allowing its forces to operate underwater before emerging onto land for attacks against Earth Federation installations and other strategic targets.
The ROBOT Spirits MSM-07S Char’s Z’Gok ver. A.N.I.M.E., priced at ¥8,250 (approx. $52 USD / £39 GBP), measures approximately 13 cm tall and recreates the red mobile suit used by Char during the assault on Jaburo.
Its articulated elbows and knees support the Z’Gok’s unusual proportions, while rotating forearms allow the claws to be repositioned and interchangeable four-pronged claw parts provide another display option.
Bandai has also included Mega Particle Cannon effects, thruster effects and battle-damage parts, alongside specialized components recreating the famous moment when Char’s Z’Gok drives its claw directly through the torso of an Earth Federation GM.
The ROBOT Spirits MSM-07 Mass Production Z’Gok ver. A.N.I.M.E., also priced at ¥8,250 (approx. $52 USD / £39 GBP), stands approximately 13 cm tall and exchanges Char’s red coloring for the familiar blue scheme used by Zeon’s standard units.
Its accessories expand heavily on the mobile suit’s ranged attacks, including effects for its six head-mounted missiles and arm-mounted Mega Particle Cannons, alongside chest exhaust effects, multiple thruster effects and a beam saber slashing effect for recreating battle damage inflicted upon the Z’Gok.
The ROBOT Spirits MSM-04 Acguy ver. A.N.I.M.E., priced at ¥8,250 (approx. $52 USD / £39 GBP), measures approximately 13 cm tall and adapts the rounded amphibious mobile suit with interchangeable arms and hands that reproduce its unusual extending limb system.
The Acguy comes with firing effects for its head-mounted vulcans, right-arm Mega Particle Cannon and left-arm six-tube missile launcher, while additional parts include interchangeable mono-eye components, an access ladder and character plates depicting Katz, Letz and Kikka alongside Zeon operatives.
Completing the returning group is the ROBOT Spirits MSM-03 Gogg ver. A.N.I.M.E., priced at ¥9,350 (approx. $59 USD / £44 GBP), which stands approximately 12.5 cm tall and includes interchangeable hands that allow its arms to be configured for underwater movement.
The Gogg also comes with effects for its abdominal Mega Particle Cannons and a beam saber piercing its mono-eye, but one of its more entertaining accessories is the Gundam’s Hyper Hammer, recreating the encounter where the heavily armored mobile suit catches the weapon between its hands.
Pre-orders for all four figures are now open, with international collectors also able to find them through select third-party hobby retailers including HobbyLink Japan.
Char’s Z’Gok, the mass-production Z’Gok, Acguy and Gogg are all scheduled for release in March 2027.
