Wanderstop Developer Ivy Road Closing March 31

Ivy Road the developer behind the indie title Wanderstop has announced it will officially close its doors on March 31 2026.

The studio shared the news on March 27 2026 citing a failure to secure necessary funding for its next project titled Engine Angel.

Engine Angel was envisioned as a vehicular combat game featuring high energy action mechanics but the team was unable to land a publishing deal in a difficult financial climate for game development.

Founded in 2021 the studio consisted of notable industry veterans including Davey Wreden of The Stanley Parable and Karla Zimonja of Gone Home along with Minecraft composer C418.

Despite the closure the developer confirmed that Wanderstop will remain available for purchase and play on PlayStation 5 Xbox Series and PC via Steam.

Wanderstop, which was released on March 11, 2025, originally received a positive reception for its unique take on the cozy simulation genre and its exploration of themes like burnout.

A final surprise for Wanderstop is currently in development with publisher Annapurna Interactive, expected to share more details about reaching new players in the future.

The team expressed deep gratitude for their time working together and noted that the studio shutdown was a disappointing result of the current challenges in raising game funds.

To support players who may continue to experience the game, Ivy Road provided a special chapter select code to allow users to navigate to specific cycles of the story.

Many members of the development team are now seeking new employment opportunities and have directed interested recruiters to a dedicated thread on Bluesky.
