Tokyo Skytree to host three moon viewing events throughout October and November

The Tokyo Skytree has announced it will host three special moon-viewing events in October and November, allowing visitors to gaze upon the autumn sky from its 350-meter-high Tembo Deck.
In a first for the landmark, the events will feature real-time translation technology to ensure international visitors can fully enjoy the experience.

The viewing parties are held in collaboration with Vixen, a comprehensive optical equipment manufacturer, and will provide high-powered telescopes for observing the moon and night sky.

The view from the Skytree’s observation deck is officially recognised as one of the “One Hundred Famous Moons of Japan,” offering a unique perspective on the celestial event.

This year’s series of events begins this coming Monday and includes three distinct dates:
- The Harvest Moon: Monday, October 6th
- The Full Moon: Tuesday, October 7th
- The 2025 Supermoon: Wednesday, November 5th, which will be the closest and brightest full moon of the year.
In a groundbreaking move to enhance accessibility for the growing number of overseas tourists, the Skytree will utilise “VUEVO,” a real-time translation and subtitling system.

Live commentary on the stars and moon provided by Vixen’s expert staff will be instantly translated and displayed as subtitles on visitors’ smartphones.
Additionally, a transparent “VUEVO Display” will be installed at the venue, showing the translated text to facilitate seamless communication.

This initiative aims to help international guests overcome language barriers and gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the Japanese cultural tradition of “meigetsu kanshou” (famous moon viewing).
