The Detective Is Already Dead Anime Game Announced for Switch
Taito has officially announced the development of the first video game adaptation for the light novel series The Detective Is Already Dead.
The upcoming title is confirmed for the Nintendo Switch console, though a specific release date and official title have not yet been disclosed.
Based on the popular MF Bunko J light novel series published by Kadokawa Corporation, this announcement marks a significant expansion for the franchise into the gaming market.
The game follows the success of the anime adaptation that originally aired from July 2021 to September 2021.
The narrative of the series centers on Kimihiko Kimizuka, who worked as an assistant to a detective named Siesta until her untimely death.
Kimihiko attempts to return to a normal life before being pulled back into a world of mystery and conspiracy a year later.
Fans of the series can also look forward to a second season of the anime, which is scheduled to premiere in October 2026 after a five-year hiatus.
This new project from Taito represents the latest collaboration involving Kadokawa’s extensive library of literary properties.
