Seven-Eleven has announced the return of a popular frozen treat that will be popular with coffee fans this summer.

The “Seven Premium Cafe Latte Ice” will shortly be returning to stores in Japan.

This ice cream received significant attention on social media last year, selling approximately 1.7 million units by July 2024, and is now returning with improved taste and texture for the upcoming warm season.

The latte flavoured ice cream has been described as a “crunchy frozen coffee” as it is packaged inside a squeezable bottle and large pieces of shaved ice.

The size of the ice pieces gives the ice cream a unique “mouth-feel” that provides a refreshing sensation and a satisfying crunch when eaten.

Seven-Eleven, one of the largest convenience store chains globally, including a vast network across Japan, frequently introduces exclusive private-label products under its “Seven Premium” brand.

These products often focus on quality ingredients and innovative concepts, catering specifically to the tastes of Japanese consumers.

For its 2025 re-release, Seven-Eleven Japan has made several changes to the “Seven Premium Cafe Latte Ice” based on consumer feedback and a desire to refine the product.

The main improvement involves a reduction in the sugar content of the ice cream.

This aims to create a more refreshing and cleaner aftertaste, allowing consumers to enjoy the frozen treat without being overwhelmed by sweetness.

It also features a stronger coffee flavour focused on achieving a deeper flavor profile, offering a more pronounced coffee bitterness that caters to an “adults’ taste”.

The new and improved “Seven Premium Cafe Latte Ice” will be available nationwide at Seven-Eleven stores starting Tuesday, June 24th, 2025 and will be priced at 213 yen (approx. $1.47 USD / £1.08 GBP).
