Sanrio’s My Melody and Kuromi x Monchhichi Collab Gets Official US Release
Sanrio has brought two of its adorable Monchhichi crossover plushes stateside, with My Melody and Kuromi-inspired mascot keychains now available for fans in the US to order.
The collaboration pairs My Melody with Chimutan and Kuromi with Monchhichi, effectively allowing the classic Japanese characters to cosplay as their respective Sanrio partners.
Monchhichi was created by Japanese toy company Sekiguchi in 1974, combining a soft plush body with vinyl facial features, hands and feet before expanding internationally from 1975.
More than 70 million Monchhichi products have been sold across over 30 countries since the character’s introduction, helping the toy remain recognizable well beyond the generation that first encountered it during the 1970s.
This particular Sanrio pairing was originally released in Japan in 2025 to celebrate My Melody’s 50th anniversary and Kuromi’s 20th anniversary, and now fans in the US can officially add the adorable pair to their collection.
The “My Melody x Monchhichi Plush Mascot Keychain,” priced at $39.99, stars Chimutan dressed in My Melody’s strawberry-pink coloring and matching hood, complete with embroidered and appliqué details and the strawberry-patterned ribbon seen on the original Japanese edition.
Soft boa fabric gives Chimutan the fuzzy finish associated with the Japanese release, while the attached clip allows the mascot to be carried from a bag or keys rather than being limited to home display.
The “Kuromi x Monchhichi Plush Mascot Keychain,” also priced at $39.99, puts Monchhichi into Kuromi’s purple color scheme with her familiar jester-style headwear and a matching pale-purple collar around his neck.
Embroidered and appliqué elements complete the Kuromi costume, with the same soft boa construction and clip attachment making it easy to add Monchhichi to a bag or other accessory.
This latest release continues a much longer relationship between Sanrio and Monchhichi, with earlier crossover collections dating back several years and previously bringing characters including Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Pochacco, My Melody and Kuromi together with Monchhichi, Chimutan and Bebichhichi.
Both the “My Melody x Monchhichi Plush Mascot Keychain (Chimutan)” and “Kuromi x Monchhichi Plush Mascot Keychain (Monchhichi)” are available now through Sanrio’s official US online store for $39.99 each.
