Gundam’s Latest Lead Mobile Suit Officially Joins GUNDAM UNIVERSE Ahead of Anime Debut
Bandai has revealed a new fully articulated action figure of Gundam ZERO, the lead Mobile Suit from the upcoming anime Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO.
The “GUNDAM UNIVERSE XARX-0 GUNDAM ZERO” recreates the machine as an approximately 15 cm figure in Bandai’s popular GUNDAM UNIVERSE action figure line, complete with its backpack, twin rifles, shields, and beam sabers.
Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO is the anime half of Bandai’s new RG Project, introducing the After Apocalypse timeline that will later continue through the upcoming action game GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT.
The series takes place in A.A. 45, decades after humanity was forced to abandon Earth following the emergence of the self-replicating silicon-based ecosystem known as the Apocalypse, and follows war orphan Ray Azumi after he becomes the pilot of the experimental XARX-0 Gundam ZERO.
The anime is officially scheduled to begin airing in April 2027, shortly after GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT launches within the same shared universe.
Gundam ZERO has already received its first model kit, with Bandai recently opening pre-orders for the HG 1/144 Gundam ZERO ahead of its April 2027 release.
Unlike the build-it-yourself High Grade kit, the GUNDAM UNIVERSE version arrives as a completed action figure and adapts Gundam ZERO into the line’s broader proportions while retaining the machine’s angular armor and heavily armed configuration.
Bandai has built the figure around its UNIVERSAL REACTION FRAME, with the internal articulation system designed to balance a wide range of movement with the durability expected from the GUNDAM UNIVERSE line.
Pull-out shoulder joints allow Gundam ZERO to hold a beam saber using both arms, while the backpack can be removed entirely depending on the pose.
Two beam rifles are included and can be equipped alongside the shields mounted on both arms, allowing the figure to reproduce Gundam ZERO’s heavily armed combat setup without requiring equipment to be removed.
The complete accessory set includes two beam rifles, two shields, two beam sabers, two beam saber effect parts, three pairs of interchangeable hands, the removable backpack, and a selection of joint parts.
The figure adds another major Gundam ZERO release to Bandai’s growing merchandise range for the new RG Project, while GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT will introduce Gundam Helix as the lead Mobile Suit on the game side of the shared timeline.
Bandai has already begun building a wider Gunpla range around that side of the project, with the HG 1/144 Gundam Helix recently receiving its official release date alongside additional High Grade kits of the Bau Bahlam and Calice.
Pre-orders for the “GUNDAM UNIVERSE XARX-0 GUNDAM ZERO,” priced at ¥5,500 (approximately $35 / £26), will open through general hobby goods retailers, including HobbyLink Japan, on November 2, 2026, ahead of its planned April 2027 release.
TAMASHII NATIONS has also confirmed the figure will receive a wider international release, including in the US, though it has not yet confirmed specific pricing or retailer availability, including whether it will be available through Premium Bandai US.
