At the time of the announcement, the series title was revealed as Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX Zero, and although many story details, characters, and mobile suits have yet to be disclosed, the series has been revealed to take place 90 years before the story of the upcoming Gundam: Rogue Orbit game.

The story takes place in a world where humanity has experienced unprecedented prosperity thanks to technology brought from outside the solar system.

However, the device responsible for these technological advances suddenly went out of control, separating from their original form and multiplying into a silicon-based life form called “Apocalypse” which invaded the entire Earth.

The series description provided by Bandai is as follows:

Thanks to three blessings brought from outside the solar system, humanity experienced unprecedented prosperity and expanded its territory throughout the entire solar system.

Gravity control, faster-than-light communication, and the materialization technology of images – the interstellar travel-capable object that brought these three blessings, however, went out of control less than 10 years after its discovery, giving rise to an aggressive, self-replicating system.

People equated this unknown ecosystem with the apocalypse.

After three months of fighting, the battle lines became deadlocked in orbit.

Humanity was forced to abandon Earth, and this year was recorded as the first year of the After Apocalypse (AA).

In AA45, children born on the moon and in colonies have come to live with the existence of the Apocalypse as a part of their daily lives. On the moon, a young boy named Ray Azumi awakens…

The new hero Gundam has been confirmed as the Gundam ZERO, and Bandai has revealed its design as well as the name of its pilot.
