Bandai Fully Reveals Gundam SEED's Exclusive New MGSD Gunpla Kit

MGSD Freedom Gundam [Silver Radiance Color] 0

Bandai has fully revealed an exclusive silver-colored MGSD Gunpla kit based on Gundam SEED’s Freedom Gundam, with pre-orders now open for the limited-edition release.

The new “MGSD Freedom Gundam [Silver Radiance Color]” recreates Kira Yamato’s iconic Mobile Suit in a silver, gunmetal, and black color scheme, replacing the familiar white, blue, red, and yellow armor of the original design.

First appearing in the 2002 anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, the Freedom Gundam is an advanced ZAFT-built machine that becomes Kira Yamato’s main Mobile Suit after the Strike Gundam.

Powered by a nuclear reactor and equipped with a Neutron Jammer Canceller, Freedom combines exceptional mobility with a powerful selection of ranged weapons, including its wing-mounted Balaena Plasma Beam Cannons and waist-mounted Xiphias Railguns.

Bandai originally released the “MGSD Freedom Gundam” in January 2023 as the first entry in its Master Grade SD series, combining the exaggerated proportions of traditional SD Gunpla with the detailed internal construction and advanced articulation associated with larger Master Grade kits.

Standing approximately 11.5 cm tall, the model features an extensively articulated internal frame, with movable sections throughout its head, torso, shoulders, and legs that allow the compact Gundam to recreate a wide range of action poses.

For the new “Silver Radiance Color” edition, Bandai has replaced the original armor colors with contrasting shades of silver and dark gray, extending across the body, weapons, and large wing assemblies.

Newly released images provide a closer look at the silver armor panels covering much of the head, chest, shoulders, and legs, with darker mechanical sections emphasizing the details of the Gundam’s internal structure.

The wing binders combine silver and gunmetal sections that become particularly prominent when the backpack is fully extended, recreating Freedom’s HiMAT configuration with its articulated wings and deployable cannons.

These mechanisms allow builders to recreate Freedom’s Full Burst attacks, deploying its Balaena Plasma Beam Cannons and Xiphias Railguns alongside the handheld Lupus Beam Rifle.

A laminated anti-beam shield and two beam sabers complete the main weapon selection, with the model’s articulated hands and body allowing builders to recreate both ranged attacks and close-combat poses.

The MGSD design also incorporates layered clear components for Freedom’s eyes and main camera, alongside Bandai’s Reflection Cut technology within the wing binders, which uses carefully shaped surfaces to reflect light through the transparent parts.

Bandai first previewed the silver Freedom Gundam alongside a matching Testament Gundam in September, confirming that both would be offered through its special Double 11 shopping campaign in China.

The accompanying “MG 1/100 Testament Gundam [Silver Gleam Color Ver.]” gives the experimental Mobile Suit from Gundam SEED Destiny Astray a matching silver and black appearance, retaining the original Master Grade kit’s large Divine Striker backpack and extensive weaponry.

Freedom Gundam has also received several alternative Gunpla releases during 2026, including the exclusive “MG 1/100 Freedom Gundam Ver.2.0 (Metallic Clear White)”, which combines translucent white armor with silver-white metallic parts and glitter-like effects.

Pre-orders for the “MGSD Freedom Gundam [Silver Radiance Color]” are now open through Bandai’s official Tmall Flagship Store and Bandai Namco online shopping channels in China, with shipping currently expected in March 2027.

The kit is priced at 589 yuan (approximately $88 / £66), although customers using a qualifying promotional coupon can purchase it for 499 yuan (approximately $75 / £56) during the Double 11 campaign until November 3, 2026, at 11:59 PM China Standard Time.

Although the new silver edition is currently being offered through Bandai’s Chinese retail channels, no corresponding Japanese or US release through platforms such as Premium Bandai US has been officially confirmed.
