Bandai Reveals First Look at 2 New Limited-Edition Gundam SEED Gunpla Kits
Image by James RichardsonBandai has revealed two new limited-edition Gundam SEED Gunpla kits that replace the familiar colors of the Freedom Gundam and Testament Gundam with striking silver, gunmetal, and black finishes.
The “MGSD Freedom Gundam [Silver Radiance Color]” and “MG 1/100 Testament Gundam [Silver Gleam Color Ver.]” are being released as part of Bandai China’s Double 11 celebrations, with both based on existing kits that have been completely reworked through their new color schemes.
Double 11, also known as Singles’ Day, has become one of China’s biggest annual shopping events, with Bandai previously using the occasion to introduce limited Gunpla variants and other region-specific releases.
The two new kits also bring together mobile suits from different parts of Gundam SEED’s wider Cosmic Era timeline, pairing Kira Yamato’s Freedom Gundam from the original television anime with the Testament Gundam from the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Astray spin-off.
The “MGSD Freedom Gundam [Silver Radiance Color]” transforms the normally white, blue, red and yellow Freedom Gundam with a much darker combination of silver chrome and black.
Images released so far show silver covering much of the exterior armor, with black sections providing contrast across areas including the torso, shoulders, wings and weapons.
The cleaner appearance also appears to omit much of the caution-style marking seen on the standard MGSD release, putting more emphasis on the reflective finish and color separation across the armor.
Freedom Gundam became the first model released in Bandai’s MGSD line when the original kit launched in 2023, combining the exaggerated proportions of an SD Gundam with internal engineering and surface detail more closely associated with Master Grade models.
Its compact body retains Freedom’s extensive weapon loadout, including the Lupus Beam Rifle, laminated anti-beam Shield, Beam Sabers, waist-mounted Xiphias Railguns, and Balaena Plasma Beam Cannons built into the wings.
Those weapons can be deployed together to recreate Freedom’s Full Burst attacks, while the articulated wing assembly allows the model to switch between more compact poses and its expanded HiMAT configuration.
The new “Silver Radiance Color” release follows several other alternative versions of Kira Yamato’s mobile suit during 2026, including the recently released “MG 1/100 Freedom Gundam Ver.2.0 (Metallic Clear White),” which combines translucent white armor with silver-white metallic parts and made its debut through Bandai’s official stores in China.
Bandai has also revisited the Freedom Gundam associated with Shanghai’s life-size statue this year, releasing a new Clear Color version of the “RG 1/144 Freedom Gundam Ver.GCP” through Gundam Base stores.

The second Double 11 release moves away from the compact MGSD format with the “MG 1/100 Testament Gundam [Silver Gleam Color Ver.],” an alternate take on the Premium Bandai-exclusive Master Grade kit first released in 2020.
Testament Gundam originally appeared in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Astray as an experimental ZAFT mobile suit developed to test technology including the Neutron Jammer Canceller and compatibility with the Earth Alliance’s Striker Pack system.
Its usual red Variable Phase Shift Armor has been replaced almost entirely for the Silver Gleam Color version, with plated silver combined with gunmetal gray and black to create a much more subdued appearance.
The new finish covers the existing Master Grade sculpt rather than introducing a redesigned mobile suit, retaining the sharp armor, large backpack, and extensive weaponry of the original Testament Gundam.
That includes the Trikeros Kai offensive shield system, which incorporates movable claws and stores the included handguns, alongside the large Divine Striker mounted across the back.
The Divine Striker can transform between its flight configuration and an enormous claw, while the Testament Gundam’s rear connection system also allows compatible Striker Packs from other Master Grade kits to be attached.
Testament Gundam’s return also comes as Bandai expands the Astray side of the Cosmic Era through new releases, including the upcoming “MG 1/100 Gundam Liberty Astray Red Frame” from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ASTRAY, which introduces a new Red Frame design built around a heavily updated Master Grade frame.
Pre-orders for both the “MGSD Freedom Gundam [Silver Radiance Color]” and “MG 1/100 Testament Gundam [Silver Gleam Color Ver.]” are scheduled to open through Bandai’s official Tmall Flagship Store at 8:00 PM on October 20, 2026.
Bandai has not yet announced pricing or release dates for either kit, and availability outside China has yet to be confirmed.
