GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT’s New Sand Pirate Gunpla Kit Officially Opens for Pre-Orders

Bandai has officially opened pre-orders for a new chainsaw-armed Gunpla kit based on its upcoming action game GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT.
The “HG 1/144 Bau Bahlam” recreates the heavily armored Mobile Suit piloted by sand pirate leader Big Paul, complete with an enormous chainsaw weapon and a special pull-start feature that allows builders to recreate its activation.

GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT is part of Gundam’s new RG Project, a multimedia initiative that connects the upcoming action game with the anime Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO through a shared universe.

Set approximately 100 years after the events of the anime, GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT takes place in A.A. 145 and follows Gundam Helix pilot RE-X and his Haro companion Vee as they confront a mysterious silicon-based lifeform known as the Apocalypse.

The game introduces a variety of new Mobile Suits and factions, alongside an extensive customization system that allows players to change their machines’ weapons, equipment, and color schemes to suit different combat situations.
Among the new factions is Red Grit, a group of sand pirates operating on Mars under the leadership of Big Paul.

The group fights against the Apocalypse while also targeting wealthy transport vessels, redistributing the supplies they capture among people living on Mars.
Big Paul’s personal Mobile Suit is the BMP4/6 Bau Bahlam, a heavily armored machine with a design that draws inspiration from the classic Zeon Mobile Suits of the original Gundam series.

Its sand-yellow armor is complemented by large red shoulder sections, a mono-eye camera and a blade-shaped antenna, with rounded armor panels giving the machine an imposing silhouette.

Bandai has recreated these details in the new High Grade kit, incorporating dense mechanical detailing across the armor, exposed piping, and several intricate components around the Mobile Suit’s body.
Despite Bau Bahlam’s bulky appearance, the kit’s articulation allows builders to recreate some of the agile movements the machine performs during combat in GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT.

The arms and lower legs also incorporate opening armor flaps that reproduce the Mobile Suit’s distinctive deployment mechanisms.
One of Bau Bahlam’s main attractions is its enormous chainsaw, which uses multiple molded components to recreate the closely packed cutting teeth and mechanical structure of the engine mounted along the side.

Unlike an ordinary Gunpla sword, the chainsaw also includes a special feature that allows builders to recreate the moment its engine is started.
An included lead wire represents the weapon’s starter cord, allowing Bau Bahlam to be posed pulling the cable to activate the chainsaw before attacking.

The weapon can also be mounted on the included backpack when not in use, allowing the Mobile Suit to be displayed without holding it.
Foil stickers and marking stickers are provided for completing the model, with its equipment and selected components also designed to be compatible with other High Grade kits from the GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT range.

This compatibility reflects the upcoming game’s extensive customization options, allowing builders to experiment with different weapon configurations across the expanding collection.
Bandai previously revealed the first painted prototypes of Bau Bahlam and Calice at the 64th All Japan Model & Hobby Show earlier this month, giving fans their first look at the two machines as physical model kits.
Image by Charlotte DavisCalice is the personal Mobile Suit of Elaine Galath, the 19th-ranked Knight Commander of the Trezor Council, and features a very different design inspired by medieval knights, complete with silver-white armor and an enormous lance.

Bandai has also opened pre-orders for the “HG 1/144 Calice”, with its release schedule now confirmed alongside Bau Bahlam.

Both machines join the game’s protagonist Gundam Helix, which recently received its own official Gunpla release date after Bandai revealed the full specifications of the “HG 1/144 Gundam Helix”.

The wider RG Project will also introduce a High Grade Gundam ZERO kit based on Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO, featuring a new spine-linked articulation system and Bandai’s first use of six-color Iropla molding technology.

The “HG 1/144 Bau Bahlam” is scheduled for release in Japan during February 2027, priced at ¥3,080 (approximately $20 / £15), with Japanese hobby retailers such as HobbyLink Japan having begun accepting pre-orders from October 15, 2026.

Bandai is yet to confirm an international release through platforms such as Premium Bandai US, though it is likely that pre-orders will open there shortly.
GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT is scheduled for a worldwide release on March 5, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.
