Sanrio’s Adorable “Colorful Pop Monster” Mascots Finally Get a US Release
Image by James RichardsonSanrio has brought part of one of its cutest Japanese merchandise collections to the US, transforming five of its most popular characters into fuzzy, candy-loving monsters.
The new “Colorful Pop Monster Series” release features Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, Pompompurin and My Melody as plush mascot clips dressed in oversized monster costumes covered with bright colors, stars, hearts and candy-inspired details.

Each character gets a different costume while retaining the same playful theme, with fluffy textures, oversized monster features and a piece of candy held in their hands giving the entire group a deliberately sweet alternative to traditional monster designs.

Hello Kitty appears in a vivid pink and purple costume, while Cinnamoroll receives a softer blue look that incorporates his familiar long ears into the monster styling.

Kuromi naturally takes the concept in a darker direction with black and purple accents, while My Melody leans heavily into pink and Pompompurin brings warmer yellow and orange tones to the group.

All five mascots stand approximately 6 inches tall and combine soft plush fabric with embroidered and appliqué details that help separate the layered parts of their costumes.

A coordinating clip is attached to each mascot, allowing them to be carried on bags, purses or backpacks rather than being limited to use as small display plushies.

The designs themselves aren’t completely new, as they originally appeared in Japan as part of Sanrio’s much larger “Colorful Pop Monster Design Series” released on April 22, 2026.

That original collection extended well beyond the mascots, adding mini character pouches, a larger gradient faux-fur pouch, a trading card binder, holographic stickers and randomized keychains styled to resemble colorful candy wrappers.

Those additional products have not joined the current US release, so American fans are currently only getting the five character mascot clips rather than the complete Colorful Pop Monster range that appeared in Japan.

The original Japanese mascots were priced at ¥2,497 each (approximately $16), making the US versions more expensive but also considerably easier for American collectors to obtain without importing them.
Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, Pompompurin and My Melody’s Colorful Pop Monster Plush Mascot Clips are now available through the official Sanrio US store for $28 each.
