Based on Hajime Isayama’s internationally successful manga, Attack on Titan follows humanity’s desperate struggle for survival against enormous humanoid creatures known as Titans, who have forced the remaining population to seek refuge behind three massive protective walls.

The story centers on Eren Yeager, who joins the military alongside childhood friends Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert after witnessing the destruction of his hometown, eventually uncovering the secrets behind the Titans and the world outside the walls.

The original manga ran in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine from September 2009 to April 2021, inspiring a hugely successful television anime that concluded in November 2023.

“ATTACK on TITAN: The Musical” first premiered in Osaka and Tokyo in January 2023, introducing a live theatrical adaptation of the series that combines music, elaborate choreography and large-scale action sequences with specially designed stage effects.

Directed by Go Ueki, the production uses a combination of traditional theatrical techniques and modern technology to portray the Titans, with enormous puppets, projection effects, and coordinated performances helping to depict the manga’s battles.

The story covers the early events of Attack on Titan, beginning with the destruction of Wall Maria and following Eren’s journey into the military through the Battle of Trost.

The musical made its international debut at New York City Center in October 2024, marking the first opportunity for overseas audiences to experience the Japanese production.

Following those performances, the show returned to Japan for another run in Tokyo during December 2024 and Osaka in January 2025.

The newly announced world tour represents a major expansion of those earlier international performances, with Singapore becoming the first confirmed destination and its first stop in Asia outside Japan.

The production will retain Go Ueki as director, with Masafumi Hata responsible for the script, rapper and musician KEN THE 390 overseeing the music, and Kaori Miura providing the lyrics.

Some characters will see their actors from previous performances returning for this latest run, including Levi, played by Ryo Matsuda, Erwin Smith, played by Shunichi Takahashi, and Hange Zoë, played by Riona Tatemichi.

The musical will be performed entirely in Japanese, with English supertitles displayed on screens throughout the performance so international audiences can follow the story.

Each show is expected to last approximately two hours, featuring live singing, dance and action sequences alongside the production’s large-scale theatrical effects.

Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama also shared a message celebrating the world tour announcement, revealing that he had been overwhelmed by the production’s impact when watching it in person.

Isayama praised the performers’ combination of singing and action for creating an interpretation of his story that differs from both the original manga and anime, expressing his excitement at the prospect of audiences around the world experiencing the musical.
