Sanrio characters become steam buns for adorable new capsule toy figure collection

A new line of capsule toys has been announced by Bandai, which reimagines the popular Sanrio Characters as delicious-looking “chukaman,” or Chinese-style steamed buns.
The new Gashapon product is the “Sanrio Characters ~Narikiri-man~ Mejirushi Accessory,” with “Narikiri-man” translating literally to “Disguise Buns.”

Gashapon are a popular style of collectible toy in Japan, sold in randomized capsules from vending machines.

This new collection features six different Sanrio characters, each one disguised as a different, popular flavor of steamed bun.
The items in the collection are “mejirushi accessories,” which are small charms that can be used to mark or identify your belongings.
The full lineup of six different “Narikiri-man” designs is as follows:
- Green Curry Bun (Pochacco)

- Sesame Paste Bun (Kuromi)

- Light Blue Bun (Cinnamoroll)

- Peach Bun (My Melody)

- Meat Bun (Hello Kitty)

- Curry Bun (Pompompurin)

This new collection offers a unique and charmingly delicious new look for the beloved characters.
The “Sanrio Characters ~Narikiri-man~ Mejirushi Accessory” is a capsule toy product.
It is priced at ¥300 per attempt from capsule toy vending machines (approx. $2 USD / £1.60 GBP).
The new collection is scheduled to begin its rollout in Gashapon machines across Japan from the third week of October.
