Transformers Unveils New 40th Anniversary Starscream Figure Based on His Final Movie Moments
Image by Charlotte DavisThreezero is continuing its Transformers: The Movie 40th anniversary celebrations with a new Fallen Coronation Starscream figure recreating the Decepticon immediately before his memorable demise in the 1986 animated film.
Starscream’s long-running ambition to overthrow Megatron finally succeeds during the movie, after he takes advantage of his critically wounded leader and throws him from Astrotrain before declaring himself the new leader of the Decepticons.
His victory proves extremely short-lived, with Megatron returning as Galvatron during Starscream’s coronation and destroying his former second-in-command with a single blast, reducing him to ash in front of the assembled Decepticons.
Threezero’s new figure captures Starscream during those final moments, using a heavily subdued grayish-white color scheme based on his appearance just before Galvatron delivers the fatal shot.
Standing approximately 20 cm tall, “MDLX Fallen Coronation Starscream” reworks the Coronation Starscream figure released by Threezero in 2025, retaining the earlier sculpt and its elaborate coronation accessories while completely changing their presentation.
Starscream’s crown remains in its original colors, but the figure itself, wired fabric cape and removable shoulder armor have all been given desaturated finishes to recreate the seconds leading up to his destruction.
Underneath the new colors, the figure retains Threezero Art Director Kelvin Sau’s mechanically detailed interpretation of the Decepticon, with a die-cast zinc alloy and engineering-grade plastic internal frame supporting approximately 50 points of articulation.
Two interchangeable faceplates are included, consisting of standard and more sinister expressions, while five pairs of hands provide options for fists, relaxed poses, weapon use, and holding Megatron in his alternate form.
Starscream’s weapons include two detachable laser cannons and a pair of short melee blades, with a removable wing backpack also included alongside his coronation equipment.
The Megatron Alt-mode Blaster provides one of the more distinctive display options, recreating the original Generation 1 concept of Megatron transforming into a handgun that could be wielded by another Decepticon.
Fallen Coronation Starscream joins Threezero’s growing 1986 Movie Edition collection, which has already recreated Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron with colors and details based specifically on their appearances in Transformers: The Movie.
The figure was also revealed alongside a new 40th anniversary Hot Rod, which recreates the young Autobot before his transformation into Rodimus Prime and brings another major character from the movie into the MDLX collection.
Pre-orders for the Transformers MDLX Fallen Coronation Starscream (1986 Movie Edition), priced at $120, are available directly from Threezero’s online store, with shipping currently scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.
