Orders set to open for new figure of Evangelion’s Asuka

BANDAI SPIRITS has officially revealed the upcoming release of an S.H.Figuarts figure of Shikinami Asuka Langley from the Evangelion series.
The new figure will feature her in her distinctive plug suit, as seen in the critically acclaimed film “Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo”.

This figure release is part of the ongoing celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the original “Neon Genesis Evangelion” television series, which first aired in 1995 and profoundly impacted the anime landscape.
It was revealed as part of an announcement that confirmed the re-release of a number of METAL BUILD Evangelion figures.

The 30th anniversary has already seen a number of promotions held, such as collaborations FILA, Hammamatsu City and two new Zoids action figures.

“Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo”, released in 2012, served as the third part of the “Rebuild of Evangelion” film series, which retold and expanded upon the original story.
Shikinami Asuka Langley is one of the central and most popular characters in the “Evangelion” franchise.
As the Second Child and pilot of Evangelion Unit-02, Asuka is renowned for her fiery personality, exceptional piloting skills, and complex emotional struggles.

In the “Rebuild of Evangelion” series, her surname was changed from Soryu to Shikinami, and her character underwent significant reinterpretation and development.
The S.H.Figuarts line, a product of Bandai Spirits’ Tamashii Nations division, is well regarded for its superior articulation, detailed sculpting, and accurate representations of characters from various popular media.

Unlike some other action figure lines that prioritize larger scales or extensive diorama elements, S.H.Figuarts focuses on providing highly poseable, character-accurate figures at a more accessible price point, making them a favorite among collectors who enjoy recreating dynamic scenes.
The “S.H.Figuarts Shikinami Asuka Langley” figure has been meticulously designed to capture Asuka’s essence and allow for a wide range of expressive poses, including her characteristic “winning pose”.

The figure’s movable structure has been carefully devised to ensure fluid and soft articulation while maintaining the elegant silhouette of her plug suit.

Advanced joint engineering, particularly in the chest and waist, allows for dynamic poses such as arched back and twisted torso movements.
The inclusion of a “roll” mechanism within the inner thighs and knees ensures that the figure can achieve natural and graceful sitting postures.

Standing approximately 135mm (about 5.3 inches) tall, the figure is constructed from durable PVC and ABS materials.
The figure comes with five types of interchangeable facial parts.
These allow for the recreation of various characteristic expressions, including her signature smiles, angry scowls, and sulky looks.

Some facial parts also feature subtle cheek gradations, adding a touch of softness and realism to her expressions.
Five types of interchangeable wrist parts will also be included to enable a broad spectrum of hand gestures and allow for holding accessories.
The figure comes with a dedicated honeycomb-shaped stand to aid in stable and dynamic display.

The base is designed to be compatible for display alongside the recently announced “S.H.Figuarts Rei Ayanami” figure. This allows collectors to recreate scenes featuring both characters.
This figure will be a general store release and will available from various retailers and hobby stores as well as Bandai’s web exclusive platforms.
Pre-orders at hobby stores and specialist retailers will start on July 1st and the figure is currently planned for release in December 2025.
The “S.H.Figuarts Shikinami Asuka Langley” action figure will be priced at 8,800 yen (approx. $60.41 USD / £44.35 GBP).
