Bandai Announces Re-Release for Exclusive Full Armor Unicorn Gundam MG Gunpla Kit
Bandai is bringing back one of Gundam Unicorn’s most heavily equipped Master Grade kits that recreates Banagher Links’ Full Armor Unicorn with the red Psycho-Frame seen during its climactic battle with the Banshee Norn.
The “MG 1/100 Full Armor Unicorn Gundam (Red Color Ver.)” is based on the mobile suit’s appearance in Mobile Suit Gundam UC episode 7, differentiating it from the regular Full Armor Unicorn MG through its red Psycho-Frame and anime-version head.
Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn follows Banagher as he becomes caught up in the conflict surrounding Laplace’s Box, eventually placing the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam at the center of a confrontation between the Earth Federation and the remnants of Neo Zeon.
The Full Armor configuration dramatically increases the Unicorn’s firepower without covering the mobile suit itself in conventional additional armor, instead surrounding it with weapons, shields, and enormous rear-mounted boosters.
For the Red Color Ver., Bandai replaces the green Psycho-Frame associated with the Full Armor Unicorn’s later awakened state with clear pink light-collecting plastic that recreates its earlier red appearance from the anime.
The model retains the complete transformation between Unicorn Mode and Destroy Mode, allowing the red Psycho-Frame to become increasingly exposed as the armor sections open across the body.
Its biggest attraction remains the sheer amount of equipment packed into the box, with two Beam Magnums, two Hyper Bazookas, six Beam Gatling Guns, eight Hand Grenade Units, two three-tube Missile Launchers, and two Grenade Launchers among the ranged weapons.
Four Beam Sabers, two Hyper Beam Javelins, and three shields complete the loadout, with the various weapons designed so that they can be attached to or removed from the Unicorn depending on how heavily armed builders want the finished model to appear.
The massive backpack uses a dedicated support frame to hold the Hyper Bazookas and rear thrusters more securely, helping keep the heavily loaded configuration stable when displayed.
Bandai also includes a separate support stand for the oversized rear equipment, which is particularly useful given how much additional weight and length the Full Armor configuration adds behind the mobile suit.
One of the kit’s more unusual extras comes from those large booster units, which can be separated and rearranged to recreate a 1/100 scale Type 94 Base Jabber alongside the Unicorn itself.
Master Grade-specific marking stickers are also included, giving builders additional options for adding mechanical markings across the white armor and extensive equipment.
The “Red Color Ver.” kit originally appeared as a Premium Bandai-exclusive release in August 2014, shortly after the final episode of Mobile Suit Gundam UC brought the red Psycho-Frame Full Armor Unicorn to animation.
Its latest Japanese re-release opened for pre-orders through Premium Bandai on August 31 at 11:00 AM JST, with the new production run scheduled to ship in November 2026.
The “MG 1/100 Full Armor Unicorn Gundam (Red Color Ver.)” is priced at ¥9,790 (approximately $64 / £47).
Bandai is also re-releasing the “HG 1/144 Base Jabber (Unicorn Zeon Forces Remnants Color Ver.)” from the same series, recreating the sub-flight system in its darker Zeon Remnants coloring for ¥1,430 (approximately $9 / £7), with November 2026 shipping planned.
A corresponding Premium Bandai US re-release of either kit has not yet been confirmed, although Japanese Premium Bandai Gunpla reissues frequently receive separate US listings after their initial domestic announcement, so an American release could potentially follow in the coming days or weeks.
