Char Aznable’s final Mobile Suit from the original Mobile Suit Gundam has joined Premium Bandai US’s Gundam Winter Fest 2026, with a special metallic version of the Zeong receiving a limited-time online restock.

The “RG 1/144 THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED ZEONG [SPECIAL COATING]” is among more than 200 Gunpla kits and related accessories available through the promotion, including a selection of Gundam Base-exclusive models normally sold through the official stores.

The Zeong appeared during the climactic Battle of A Baoa Qu in the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam anime, where Char Aznable piloted the experimental Principality of Zeon Mobile Suit against Amuro Ray’s RX-78-2 Gundam.

Developed during the final stages of the One Year War, the enormous Mobile Suit incorporated an advanced Psycommu system that allowed Newtype pilots to control remote weapons through their brainwaves.

Although the machine was deployed before its construction was complete, leaving it without legs, its powerful thrusters and wire-guided Mega Particle Cannons made it a formidable opponent during the final battle between Char and Amuro.

Bandai originally released the Gundam Base-exclusive Special Coating Real Grade in August 2024, giving its popular Zeong kit a more elaborate metallic appearance through a combination of specially coated armor and Metallic Gloss Injection components.

Based on the standard “RG 1/144 Zeong” from January 2021, the limited edition replaces the original model’s gray and blue exterior with reflective silver and metallic blue finishes.

Selected red, yellow, and gray components also use metallic molding colors, creating a consistent appearance across the completed model’s armor and exposed mechanical sections.

The metallic treatment emphasizes the layered armor, molded panel lines, and mechanical details across the Zeong’s exterior, with the exposed thrusters beneath its skirt also benefiting from the special finish.

Beneath the special finish, the kit retains the sophisticated engineering of the original Real Grade, which introduced several new articulation mechanisms designed to reproduce the Zeong’s appearance and movements from the anime.

The head incorporates a movable mono-eye that automatically shifts from side to side as the neck rotates, with a separate mechanism allowing the eye to be adjusted vertically.

Additional movement is provided through the neck assembly itself, while opening panels around the rear of the head and cockpit reveal further mechanical details.

One of the kit’s main features is its complex thruster system, with four verniers around the chest and back opening in conjunction with the movement of the upper body.

The large skirt armor can also be expanded to expose the propulsion system underneath, with individual thrusters mounted on movable joints that allow them to be adjusted into different positions.

An articulated waist frame provides a wide range of movement, allowing builders to tilt and rotate the upper body despite the Zeong’s imposing size and lack of legs.

The model also recreates the Mobile Suit’s signature wire-guided Mega Particle Cannons, with both forearms capable of detaching from the main body to reproduce its remote-controlled attacks.

Included lead wires connect the detached arms to the Zeong, while the forearm assemblies can be extended and mounted onto supports for more elaborate displays.

Each hand incorporates Bandai’s Advanced MS Joint construction, providing individually articulated fingers that recreate the five-barreled Mega Particle Cannons built into the original Mobile Suit.

A dedicated display base is also included, allowing the completed Zeong to be positioned in flight and displayed with its remotely operated arms.

Amuro Ray’s famous opponent is also represented in Gundam Winter Fest 2026, with the “PG UNLEASHED 1/60 RX-78-2 Gundam” receiving a limited-time US restock during the same event.

That Perfect Grade kit recreates the original Gundam with an extensively detailed internal frame, opening armor panels, and integrated lighting, providing another opportunity to collect one of the two Mobile Suits involved in the anime’s final confrontation.

Gundam Winter Fest 2026 runs from November 6 at 5:00 PM PST until November 30 at 11:59 PM PST, with Premium Bandai US temporarily offering a substantial selection of Gunpla kits, Gundam Base limited models and building accessories online.

The “RG 1/144 THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED ZEONG [SPECIAL COATING]” is currently in stock through Premium Bandai US for $158, although quantities may be limited and the kit could sell out before the promotion concludes.

Premium Bandai US also offers free shipping on qualifying orders over $99 independently of Gundam Winter Fest, meaning the Gundam Base-exclusive Zeong qualifies without requiring any additional purchases.
